About LarryFNigh

Writing is a passion of mine. As is the theater. Acting, singing, and dancing on stage are fairly newfound joys for me. They will get more of my time as I learn more about my craft.
I'm happy that so many have found pleasure in my poetry and stories. I hope to continue satisfying those who take the time and effort to dip into my writing.
If you're new here, welcome. Most of us are friendly around here. And open to forming new friendships. I know I am.

French Kiss

It's just a chance we live; we die in France. It could be anywhere that love may thrive But this is where we did our lover's dance. Our lustful joys will flourish, still, survive, A lover's touch caresses, filled with fun, And shares a fervor vibrant, so alive. In light still bright, we see our poem's done, And share a pledge that we will make tonight, True promise these two lovers...

Pastoral Visit

"You've been good today, so when we get home, you c'n have some ice cream." Aunt Charlotte holds his hand as they walk out of the white clapboarded church into the spring air. Up ahead, at the foot of the steps, Brother Pitman shakes a hand, then another, smiling at each face of a sister or brother. His preaching lasted forever today, with lots of rumbling breaths and flipping his bible...

The Old Front Porch

They approached the front porch hesitantly, passing between two blooming Rose of Sharon bushes with red flowers. A new place, strange to him, with dust specks dancing in the rays of the sun that flickered through the trembling chinaberry leaves down onto the weather-beaten wooden flooring. Everything had been painted at one time. Now just flecks still clung desperately to the surface of...

Final tinkling of the piano. Then "Moon River" ends and they start moving around the floor. Some chatting, some sitting on the floor and removing slippers. "Come in. Here, wedge it open." The door is letting people in and out. "Hi, Larry. You alright?" "Yes, I'm good. I see you don't have a brace on, Paige." "Just can't leave the ground. No jumps or leaps. So, everyone here?" Taking...

Villanelle to Shared Hiraeth

Nostalgia yearns for places never found, We search in hope, with joy, and trusting sighs; Hiraeth is ours, both souls are homeward bound.  The hollow echoes with a birdlike sound,  A song is heard, it crests and gently dies;  Nostalgia yearns for places never found.  We found a love that shared a common ground  Where both of us had suffered burns from lies;  Hiraeth is ours, both souls...

The Show Must Go On

The final act. Today, on February 24th of 2017, we open another play. It's Billy Elliot the Musical. I have the role of George, and it's the biggest part I've had since I started acting in plays. This one will be the fourteenth that I've been a part of since I began with A Kansas Nutcracker. That was in December of the year 2013.  In this past December, I was in Nutcracker: A Kansas...

Mirror in White

The mirror shows her form all dressed in white, So soft, demure, and precious as can be. Reflecting back her beauty, pure delight,  My secret knows just what she means to me. With glowing face and smiles to warm my heart, With words assuring me she's always near, She makes me feel we're one though we're apart And lets me know there's nothing we need fear. We walk our path and trust we'll...

Can You Hear It

Can you hear it in the distance, Can you feel it in your bones. Is it bearing down upon you, Is it more than you should bear. It will catch you if you let it, It might plow you down today. You must try your very hardest, Try as best, as best, you can. You should gather up your courage, That's the least that you should do. Since tomorrow it may find you, So today you must make plans. ...

Good morning  Morning glory My cherished flower child. Eternal In your glory My ageless treasured one. Exquisite In your glory My burning dancing heart. Electric In your glory My precious joyous dove. Majestic In your glory My laughing soul's delight. This morning May your glory Betoken what may come. The lustful passions spreading From dusk until the dawn.  The earnest loving laving...
