Scared, Chapter One

So many years and even decades had she forgotten. Dry mouthed, she stares at the television in silent horror. Her pupils dilate and her heart rate was skyrocketing.

Suddenly she is a little girl again, scared in the dark at her Aunt Mary's house. She can remember the ugly, black tar paper outside and a brown set of bannisters off of the kitchen.

Angel clenches her hands tightly. Her Aunt Mary was married to a man named Steve who laughed too loudly . She had felt deep down he was a bull and she was the china shop. He gave her the creeps and she did her best to stay away from him.

He frightened her to death, but even she hadn't told herself that. The neighborhood kids had liked him just fine and even her older sister admired and liked him.
