The diver

During the night of Saint John was going to carry out an important experiment in the blue waters of French Guiana. The lights of hundreds of bonfires on the beach reflected themselves on a boat anchored not far from the shore, aboard which a diver was preparing his diving suit.

Carlos de Ayanz, a direct descendant of Jerónimo de Ayanz, the Navarran engineer who designed a diving suit in 1606, will try to inspect the remains of a 16th century ship near the coast. A ship in which his predecessor died.

He had made thousands of dives. Thousands of experiences. However, this time it was different. For some reason, it was the first time I had experienced a certain fear of thinking in the deep sea.

When the time came, Carlos de Ayanz, dressed in his diving suit, began to descend slowly to the place where the ship was.

Marine animals came to try to warn him of something. He was absorbed in his thoughts, and ignored them.

He approached one of the sides of the ship and managed to enter the captain's chamber,a nd then he understood the justification of his fears.

-Dear Carlos. How have you taken so long to come and pick me up?

And Carlos was aware of that he would stay there forever with his ancestor Jerónimo de Ayanz.
