The sugar glider

I was in the hospital. I was admitted after a week of having a high fever. That evening, when everything was quiet, I went out into the hall. I needed to leave the room, even for a moment. I was very surprised that the dropper that they put on me to administer acetaminophen into the vein was no longer hanging from my arm. Besides, I did not wear my pajamas, but I was dressed in the same clothes I wore when I was admitted in the hospital.

As I approached the elevator area I heard a sort of purr followed by something like a short barking, and that sound startled me. The only lights that illuminated the room were those of emergency. I tried to know where the strange sound came from. As I approached the elevator, the intensity of the purring increased. I opened the elevator, dimly lit and from the ground a pair of huge eyes were watching me.

It was in one of the corners of the elevator. It was all eyes. I would call it so, "All eyes". I had never seen anything like it. A huge tail, a body size like a hamster and an expectant face.

Ten years have passed. I do not remember when I left the hospital, but "All eyes" takes care of me and reminds me that during all these years I have not been alone.
