To Teach a Lark

For any of us here that have grown up in the country. Being blessed and raised on a farm. This is a short muse on my early life.

Living in the country you may say we grew up fast.

Up early doing chores.

Chasing the hens for our daily eggs.

Talking as we milked our cows.

Watching your back... that damn ram!

Busy but not to busy to see our new family.

Late spring a pair of larks came to live with us.

Set about building a nest with our straw.

Soon there was the noise of baby larks.

The proud father on patrol ever present.

Watching my brother buzzed by the father lark.

Then one day the barn was quiet.

The larks had flown away.

Just a short muse on the life of a child raised on a Michigan farm.
