Don’t you see tiny raised hands in supplication?

Don’t you hear my heart rending sobs?

Don’t you see my shivering body?

Marked with your cruel discipline?

Don’t you feel my broken heart?

How many times have I suffered brutal slaps?

How many times you have marked my fragile skin?

Broken bloodied inside out you have,

Disciplined me with your anger.

Did you hear my screech at yet another mark on my body?

Did you ever feel my misery?

My tiny body racked with wounds inflicted in name of discipline?

Did you ever woke up and saw me shivering in sleep fear haunting my dreams?

Did you see me wince in school when unknowingly my friend hugged my injured body?

Did you ever see my heartache mirrored in my eyes?

Could you have not loved me more?

Could you have not taught me with patience and love?

Did I deserve to be at the punishing end of your stick?

Just a small child beaten and spirit cowed

Locked in blackness of a washroom.

Did you ever felt pleasure in my company?

Was I ever your child of heart?
