"Forget"

Forget about how I loved you
And how I kissed you
And how my eyes lit up when
You walked into the room

Forget about the long love letters that told you
How you were the best thing in my world
And the short sappy ones that said the same
Forget about the hour long back scratches and massages
And how a whisper of a word, look or touch from me
gave you goose bumps

Forget about that.

Please forget how I loved your children as my own
Even when they were told that they couldn’t love their
Mother and me too
And that was quite alright with you

Really, forget about the plans we made
And the love we made
'Cause your plans didn’t include me
And your love was made for someone else

Forget about the half-hearted proposal of marriage
And how you took back the ring
When I told a truth that you couldn’t accept

Forget that you told me that I had the most beautiful heart
But that you would break it in a heartbeat to protect your own
Forget about how you said that you didn’t deserve me
And how you showed me everyday
That I didn’t deserve you

Please forget about the life we never had
And the love that wasn’t there
You showed me early in the game
That your love for me was not the same...
As mine was for you

It's ok to forget about that.

Forget about the tears you saw me cry for you
And because of you
And the pain and the ecstasy of giving life
To the precious gift that you begged me
To give back to God

Forget about it all.
Forget because it does not matter.
Forget because it never did.

Please forget
Because if you forget
Maybe you can let me go
Like I finally let you go

In fits of anger, you feel compelled
To tell me that you never loved me
At least you're finally being honest

But, you know that I loved you
With a vigor that you've never known
That I loved you in spite of and despite....

It all.

On those cold nights when you want to wrap yourself up
In memories of me, of us
Don’t.

It must make you so sad to remember....

So please take the advice of someone who once loved you...

And Forget
