Light//I See the Light

"From another writing site, if you notice, every stanza has a 5-7-5 rhythm-thingy, like haiku..."

Heaven's angels can
wait. I know now- I'm not
ready to die yet.

I know I'm bleeding
out, but how did my wrists get
slit? It's all over me...

The blood is... it is
everywhere. All around me-
shallow pools of red.

But there is a knock-
at the door. Who could be there-
at my bathroom door?

"Sweetheart, are you o-
kay?" he says softly through the
door. Opens it so slow-

ly, like it will break
if he goes faster. He stares
at me, lost in the

blood, then takes out his
phone, and dials nine-one-one.
They will be here soon.

He kneels and tells me
he loves me, putting pressure
on my bloody wrists.

He tries to stop the
flow of blood, but at this point
it does not matter.

I look up at him,
smile and giggle a little,
then say quite softly,

"I love you too, my
dear, and I hope you enjoy
life. I see the light."
