Meghan- The Ways of Disease

From the point of view of Meghan, another of my characters...

“Fully alive, more than most. Ready to smile and love life.

Fully alive and she knows how to believe in futures.”

-Flyleaf, Fully Alive.

People look at me differently,

now,

I am something strange,

a creature, not a person.

I am acute myeloid leukemia,

a disease, not a human.

I do not have feelings,

you can hurt me and laugh,

for I will not feel.

You are wrong.

Cancer doesn't pick and choose and it is an awful disease. I know a few survivors, but way too many that didn't. You continue to write about topics that tug at the heart strings of many. Great job as always!!

This expresses the truth about anyone who has a well known disease that has a low cure rate. You go from being a person to being one of those people. A sad but true thing.
