Seasons Of The Heart

Even true love changes with the seasons...
Looking out across the ocean I sit alone,
Cool sand sifting between my toes.
Soft sprays of salty air blown against my skin
As blue green waters rush toward shore.

Glorious rays of sun in all their splendor
Dance like golden stars across tranquil waters.
Brilliant hues mirror the skies above
In dazzling shades from light to deeper blue.

Gale force winds sweeping over land and sea
Cause the whitecaps to erupt and roll violently.
Ominous grey waves rising like walls of kismet,
Crashing onto rocks of ill-fated doom.

Silvery moonlight reflecting off a calm surface,
Shimmering like a beacon to guide us home,
While perilous currents lurk beneath
The mystical waters of luminescent black.

Our love is like the ocean… ever changing--
Each season possessing a splendor all its own.
I close my eyes and feel your hand in mine,
Our souls locked in eternal bliss.

Beautifully written imagery, emotionally charged, with all the reality of a loving relationship, one that is true.

I think this is beautiful, Sherzahd, and very powerful. I like walls of kismet very much, though I'm not certain I understand exactly what it means - still, it is very effective. Very moving work.

How beautiful! But a touch of sadness for me, since it reminded me that my love was like a puddle.

I was lucky enough to grow up an hour from the ocean (well, the Irish Sea). I know what it is to gaze on the water and ruminate on love. This poem is gorgeous and taps straight into those memories. It makes me long for that raging beauty and that blissful calm. Very well done.

Heartfelt thanks to Sisyphus for turning a horribly clumsy poem into a beautifully crafted piece of art.

Tssk, i always feel sorry for those of us who live inland and who only get to dabble our toes in the sea every now and again. Neat and powerful

You have carefully but lovingly laid out the seasons of the soul for me here. I tried not to overthink as I read, and perfectly saw in my head what you were describing. And how glad I am that I did - your final verse spoke perfectly what I could not have described myself.

This poem makes my heart ache, but in a good way. Thank you.

So lovely, so vivid, the mood and atmosphere evokes where you are physically and emotionally. Every stanza moves inevitably to the last stanza--the ever changing ways of love and loving. The tranquil waters with an ominous undercurrent, yet there is the the sense of being guided home. The holding of hands and the bonding of eternal souls evokes the physical and spiritual. This is a deceptively complex poem. I am deeply moved by these words.
