The Fragrance Of Her Sleep

Mine eyes snapped open then.
Yes some compelling whiff hinted
At luxury that peeled
My seal-ed lips, how ironic
That smell can break a spell of sleep!

Yet as I woke there was
No strong fermented scent,
No sense of succulent
Sweet sustenance, and no,
Sophisticated spice sachet,
But only mild tastes of the dew
As it hung on the deep blue air.

Mine eyes took in the welcome sight
Of starry night, its constellations sure,
To strike the heart with might,
For beauty and for helpless cause,
A love for light as it,
Shines out and brightens worlds below.

I lifted my poor head,
The pain did strike me down,
I ached to see the side.
A face above appeared,
And comforting was his look of concern,
And care, the kind expression of,
A soulless gentleman.

Mine eyes did recognize,
Malicious looks that were intent,
On strapping down,
A pure platonic plaster with,
A purposeful placement,
On the sides of my head,

Such that I saw warm comfort yet:
Were quite aware of cold dark thoughts,
That penetrated his white hands.
He pulled me up and as I screamed,
Oh in distress one stab,
And that was it the scorching pain was gone.
