Too Dark... Not!

300 words 300 words

I’ve been told I write too dark.

Just my way of saying life isn’t a walk in the park.

Some say I have no humor.

That’s just a rumor.

I laugh now and then.

There was this one time back in 2010.

It was way more than just a smirk.

I’m not a complete jerk.

Although, I am a piece of work.

With at least one quirk.

I always try to write from the heart.

Which may not make me very smart.

Giving you the best I got.

Maybe not.

I could do better I guess.

If I had to confess.

I’ll start tomorrow.

But first I have to steal a few ideas… oh, wait… I meant borrow.

Who’s got a couple I can use?

Or should I say abuse.

Words are words and no one owns them.

Although there’s a couple you can have… booger and phlegm.

Ahem.

Did I mention that when I write.

There is a light.

That beneath the lights glow.

There is a shadow.

That’s where I go.

To make words flow.

From dark to light and back again.

The keyboard is my pen.

Words should be penned from wiser men.

What then?

Shall I not write?

Hide from sight?

Slither in the dark of night?

I might.

I’ve been told I write too dark.

I admit at times a bit too stark.

But my work is just a watermark.

Embark.

A journey lies beneath the stain.

Mine. Yours. Again and again.

A ticket punched and validated.

Common sense abdicated.

Curiosity sated.

A golden prize for those who waited.

Darkness comes from light above.

Hand and glove.

Sort of.

A trail is left for you to find.

Be kind.

Peer beneath the words you read.

Authors bleed.
