About Circle_Something

Here I be. It's me. Squee. I'm known as Andrew, among other names. I'm here just to share thoughts and just have a bit of fun, really. I'm kinda at a loss, what should I say? I'll let my writing speak for itself. Some of it is me controlling the words, bending them to my will, some just completely whatever flies from my fingertips and sometimes it controls me, win lose or draw, it's mine, crappy or not. I have a tendency to make up words, by the way. I'm here to just share ponderings and such. Also to read, I have it on good authority that there are some pretty good authors here.

Note on my username, if you're curious: I was listening to a song called Crop Circles when creating my account here and my favourite line is "The crop circles are talking to me (circle something, circle something)" it stuck in my mind and I just had to use it. It raised a smile for me, anyway.

Slight note about my writing style: Here is where I'll likely write with the two extremes of my personality. The first being happy things: love, longing, want, crazy, silly ramblings (mostly that). The other is slightly more dark, but surfaces on occasion: fear, loss, desperation. Dark stuff. We all have it and sometimes it just has to have a vessel. Also, I write the way I talk. You'll see stuff that you won't in "classical English", but that's just my voice.

Playing with words, listening to music and trying (not that hard, though) to play along with it, eating food, drinking alcohol, drinking tea and really just generally being a cool Kitty. Let's not forget that I love playing with electronics as well. I always have some project on the go, electronics, prose or otherwise. I have a very silly side, some may say eccentric, get to know me, I'm sure we'll get along well, I'm friendly and only bite if you want me to
Favorite Books:
Books that make me feel: Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Most Stephen King things, Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat by Bill Watterson (actually any Calvin and Hobbes comic). I'm such a big kid at heart. I really like The Bald Twit Lion by Spike Milligan as well. It's the fusion of adult humour and childish innocence that does it for me. I have the utmost respect for Spike Milligan.
Favorite Authors:
Spike Milligan, Vladimir Nabokov, Stephen King, Bill Watterson, H.P Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Joss Whedon (I'm a total Buffy fiend, so don't be surprised if I quote or reference it.)
Favorite Movies:
Saw, The Vengeance Trilogy, Snatch, Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistlestop Cafe, Moulin Rouge!, Scooby Doo and The Witch's Ghost, Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, Disney's Aladdin Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With me, Blue Velvet... too many more to mention, really. You'll notice that I like really dark things and really not so dark things. I'm a man of extremes and those two extremes appeal to me.
Favorite Music:
Bands I listen to most often: Metallica, Slipknot, Slayer, Queen, Megadeth, Lacuna Coil, Alestorm... Again, the list could go on forever. Mostly heavy metal and hard rock, with a bit of catchy pop, some rap, classical, blues... I just love music, really, I'm as fervent about it as I am about reading and writing.

Before she puts on a dress that's not too hot,
she checks the weather again.
"It's been ridiculously hot, and it's such rot!"
By magic, one appears!
"Thanks, Fears."
She looks sad.
"If only."
His signature outfit, he dons.
"One day, Donnie, you'll be Dawn."
His secret spills out of his eyes,
and he goes about his day.
The world isn't ready for "him" to be "her".

Like nothing is real,
but he's starting to feel,
is he lost, or is he about to heal?
Only time will tell,
but I can say one thing:
His shell is not empty.

Sorry, Andrew, I'm not good at crosswords unless they are really, really uncomplicated.

But could you also specify the word count for the answer, cus in a crossword, you usually know that much, and it might be helpful.

Actually, I totally forgot about that part. Silly me!

Okay, so I'm trying to make this simple as possible, since the las thread I started was a bit convoluted. Well, the premise is simple: Describe a word with accurate, but misleading clues, just as a crossword might incuding letter count, the next person guesses it, then poses their own word description. I'll start:

An instrument; typically with four strings, garners a lot of puns, basically.

Topic: What is your favorite season, and why?
Posted: 07 Oct 2018 03:17

Usually, autumn is my favourite, but this year, it isn't, because it isn't showing up yet. Months of drought and a seemingly endless heat wave have still not abated.

Autumn, where are you? help

I feel ya. Our autumn seems to be somewhat on hold, too; trees are changing colour, true, but the weather just isn't autumnal at all. It's supposed to pretty much skip autumn this year and go straight to winter. No thanks! Winter used to be my favourite season, but recently I've started appreciating the melancholic beauty of autumn. I like the transition and the fact that in autumn, my sinuses don't bother me as much as summer or winter. Damn, I don't half ramble.

Ormolu - noun

That is quite some word. I like it a lot, and until now hadn't heard of it.

My word is going to be: Potentiometer. An electronic device used to control the value of a circuit, most commonly used as a volume contrl. In thje giutar community, it's often shortened to "pot", but the full word "potentiometer" has a nice roundness to it. Po-ten-shee-omm-et-er.

Steed - Seed

Seed - seder

Also, friendly note, could you let other people have a chance to play, instead of whacking four or five posts out to yourself?

An Open Letter: Arte's Thoughts

Dear Humans, You're all so weird! Sorry, let me start that again. I've been on your planet for 35 years. I've witnessed some things that I wouldn't want anyone else to, yet people do. I've seen the world through the eyes of a baby, growing up to become an infant, child, teenager, and finally adult. When I was a baby, things were simple: Cry for attention, sleep most of the time, play for...

Snackin' like it's going outta fashion, I've got a smile, it's flashing.  I'm happy as fuck, hear me play with my rubber duck!    I got hit by a truck!    Still snackin', just through a tube,  at this rate, I'll lose the moobs.  When I make a recovery, I'm gonna grab some boobs!   ...

How Many Potatoes?

Four hundred and twenty potatoes. A client asked me to take a picture of that on my Exacta 66 camera. I contemplated as I sipped my dirty martini. I do get a lot of absurd requests, but this takes the cake. Speaking of cake, let’s get baked. I forgot what I was going to say now. Whatever, just saying...  ...

Pain, pain, go away, Fuck me up never a day.  An hour or more is all I ask, Is that really such a task? I wear a mask of brave facedness,  But inside, my lies are bare faced.  Nobody sees because I hide, For what else do I do, lest I slide? So, here I go, it's a difficult time, Where is the reason, where is the rhyme? It'll fade, given time.  But when in time, will my mind be mine? If my...

The House

There's a house at the top of the hill.  Haunted, of course. It doesn't want to kill, or even chill.  Benevolent, of course.  It used to be a mill.  Abandoned, of course.  They made twill.  Aeons ago, of course.  Now the house sits lonely and old.  Awaiting its new masters.  It's earned a reputation, ill-begotten.  The house, alive, just wants company.  It remembers, you see, it's...

Another Unedited Musing

I’m not entirely sure I like you. Everything here is too bright and too dark.  It’s a fucking paradox and it doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t even make paradoxical sense. Like, why am I sitting here typing this?  My hands are betraying me. The wind is harsh, yet comforting. Why’m I even drunk? Am I sober?  Do I exist? Ugh, questions! Like, I could just write this out like some...

Painful Poetry

The ideas are here, but so’s the pain, it’s making me feel rather wan. It’s not a perfect rhyme, but give me time. Why do poems have to rhyme? A poem doesn’t have to rhyme, just as long as it makes the reader spend time. Time is great, but waste it not.  Rather, make haste, and buy a yacht. I’ve no idea where I’m going with this, my hands are fucked, my brain is worse. Why the fuck do I...

An Enchanting Forest Walk

I want to take a walk through an enchanted forest.  Feel the dew drops at my fingers.  Sink deep into a magickal cavern.  Get lost in the scents and taste the rain. In my magickal daydream, the forest welcomes me. I climb to the highest heights and take a ride.  My senses awaken and the forest sighs.  A blissful feeling, the forest emits. I can't help but smile.  The forest is my happy...

A Conversation With a Crocodile

I met a crocodile with a smile as wide as a mile. Said I to the crocodile "what are you doing with that mile-smile?" Said he to me "I've just had a tasty tourist!" He looked at me with eyes of wist, "are you a yummy snack?" I looked him back "no, Sir Croc, I'm full of grist!" His eyes of wist, 'came full of mist "I need my dessert!" I smiled at him "how about that woman there? She's...

Genders, Genitals and Gripes

As most of you know, I am a man. I wear nail polish and have my hair long. I occasionally wear makeup and crossdress a little bit. As traditional gender roles go, I’ve eschewed most of them. I don’t see the point of them. When I was wee, I’d play with cars, Meccano, LEGO, dolls and anything else I wanted to because I wanted to. I wasn’t limited in what I was allowed to play with, except that...

Audio Story Editor's Pick Better Than You

Hello, I'm new here. I am better than you. I'm smarter and kindlier — Cleverer too! You're stupid - you're snooty - You're unworthy of my precious time. As for me, it's plain to see: I'm magnificent and sublime! While I am Secretariat, Or perhaps Seattle Slew, The rest of you, a sorry lot, Are destined to become glue. This may seem rather blunt, But that's just how I am. If...
