About Colors_of_the_Wind

Hi. Just completely deleted the run-on blabber that was once here. My name on here is Colors_of_the_Wind. You can find me on YouTube under AriasEmporium, and on Facebook under Marie ColorsoftheWind Carter. My legal first name is Aria. I have been writing for almost a decade and I still come up with some crappy ideas and some wonderful ideas so I don't think that really goes away ever. My characters run around in my head all day, most of the time just making a ruckus nowadays, but sometimes actually yelling at me to write something. Philena is famous for that I'm that writer that loves writing cliff hangers, but hates to read them.

Currently at DQ and opened my Etsy shop Aria's Emporium a little over a year ago now. I sell shave soap, unisex fragrances, bath truffles, beard oils and many more bath & body products. Working on creating my own soap recipe so watch out for that! Oh! And I sell some wax tarts as well. All of my products are made in small batches by me, myself & I and are inspired by anything and everything, but mostly nature and pop-culture.

Andrew (Circle_Something) and I have been going strong for a little over 5 years now, still 4,500 miles away from each other with only Skype, letters/packages, and social media to keep us goin', so, ya know, if we can do it, so can you! Because of this, there are some mushy love poems and musings about, but... #sorrynotsorry.

I write realistic fiction that usually starts as an awareness piece and evolves into something larger, as well as poetry and the once-in-a-blue-moon song. I love reading fantasy, but have tried and cannot write it, though I do enjoy supernatural, post-apocalyptic and the occasional romance. I've begun writing the sequel to my realistic fiction piece Tomorrow. You can find the first chapter of the original here: http://www.storiesspace.com/stories/flash-fiction/tomorrow-chapter-one.aspx and the little arrows at the bottom will lead you all the way through to the final chapter. You can also find the first chapter of the sequel here: http://www.storiesspace.com/stories/general/today-chapter-one.aspx

Don't try to preach at me or pull the age card, those are big pet peeves. Other than that, I love everyone.

Consult below for any other questions you may have, or message me.

Music is Love <3
I enjoy creating, so I love writing and creating characters, I love making my fragrances and soaps and wax tarts and I enjoy baking and cooking and creating my own recipes in both of those fields. I've always loved spreading awareness because ignorance breeds bigotry and hatred and there's too much of that in the world as it is. I enjoy the outdoors; hiking, camping, just sitting around a fire and chatting with people. Psychology and Criminology are interesting to me as is Anatomy, though I don't believe I could make careers of these. I love history, European in particular, but there's always something to be learned from others' past mistakes. OH and traveling. The wanderlust is strong in this one. I want to travel everywhere. And tattoos and colorful hair.
Favorite Books:
I enjoy practically everything, but here's a list of some of my favorites anyway: The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine, the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, the Carpathian/Dark series by Christine Feehan, the In Death series by J.D. Robb, Don't Breathe A Word by Holly Cupala, Bitter End by Jennifer Brown as well as her book titled Hate List, and Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. I love almost all poetry as well, but my favorites are: Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allen Poe, and Alan W. Jankowski (or as we know him, DirtyMartini) <3
I also have a couple favorite non-fiction pieces, all of which seem to be memoirs: Being Ana by Shani Raviv, Denial: A Memoir of Terror by Jessica Stern, and Night by Elie Wiesel.
Favorite Authors:
Shoot. Stephen King, James Patterson, Jodi Picoult, Jennifer Brown, Christine Feehan, Rachel Caine, J.K. Rowling, Tolkien, Charlaine Harris, Ellen Schreiber, Ellen Hopkins, Stephanie Meyer, Jay Asher (the wonderful author of the very controversial 13 Reasons Why), Sarah Dessen, Bella Forrest and Emily Dickinson.
Favorite Movies:
I like a lot of movies too, so I'll list some, but in no way are these all of them: I Am Malala, I Am Legend, Eat Pray Love, the Harry Potter series, the Hunger Games series, the Divergent series, The Green Mile, Priest, the Twilight series, 30 Days of Night, The Purge: Anarchy, World War Z, Saving Private Ryan, Flubber, Dead Poets Society, Blue is the Warmest Color, The Fault in our Stars, Kill Bill, Dirty Dancing, the Halloweentown series, Grease, Twisted & Twisted 2, Silence of the Lambs, The Color Purple, The Help, The Suicide Room, Suicide Squad, and Hidden Figures. As I said, there are MANY more, but you don't need a novel about my favorite movies :p
Favourite TV Shows:
Grey's Anatomy, The 100, The Shannara Chronicles, NCIS, Supernatural, the Barrett-Jackson car auctions, Counting Cars, American Pickers, Bones, Friends, The Waltons, Best Bars in America, Unique Sweets, Little House on the Prairie, Kitchen Nightmares, Chopped, Walker Texas Ranger, Wynonna Earp, The Rain, 13 Reasons Why, Iron Chef America and many, many more.
Favorite Music:
Classic Piano, Orchestra, Opera, Choral, Country, Rock of all types, Jazz, Pop and practically every other genre. I'll list a few favorite musicians and you can ask if you want to know who else I listen to: Beethoven, Debussy, Celtic Thunder, Hayley Westenra, Emilie Autumn, Ella Fitzgerald, Gretchen Wilson, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, Otep, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Simon & Garfunkel, Halestorm, Imagine Dragons, Linkin Park, Eminem, Twenty-One Pilots, Macklemore, Coldplay, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Evanescence, Nightwish, Lindsey Stirling, Korn, Slipknot, Manson, Christina Aguilera, My Chemical Romance, Andrew de Leon, Maroon 5, Pentatonix, Ciara, A7X, Jinjer, Demi Lovato, In This Moment, Beyonce, Skylar Grey, P!nk, BFMV, Neil Diamond, Alestorm, Queen, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Cyndi Lauper, Heart, and Little Mix. I also like some YouTube artists, which you should check out: MikelWJ, Chevy Levett, TheSarahJade, Jonathan Young, Ashton Edminster, Faith Marie, Hey Violet and Amanda Lopiccolo.

Topic: Writing A Court Scene
Posted: 11 Aug 2017 02:31

Hey y'all. It's been a while since I was on here. I've recently started writing the sequel to my Tomorrow story. Philena is doing as well as can be expected in this sequel. I've written the first chapter which is quite a bit longer than I thought it would be and now am on to the second where I feel I must describe the legal process she is going through with Stepmonster, but I've never written anything of the sort.

I was wondering if any of you may know, whether from experience of being in a court room in one role or another or just from writing a lot of crime stories, the order in which one may go. Who will speak first? Will they try him for her mother's murder and all the abuse she's suffered in the one go or no? What kind of questions will they ask, both the prosecution (her side) and the defense (his side)?

As always, if there are any tips or extra details/info you can offer me, I certainly welcome it.

Thank you :)

Topic: Why Do You Write?
Posted: 11 Aug 2017 02:15

I used to write to let all my emotions and thoughts out onto a page, figuring if they were here or on deviantART, they couldn't hurt me too bad.
Then I wrote strictly for awareness reasons on subjects such as eating disorders, depression, ptsd and various other disorders, not to mention diseases like the various cancers that are out there.
Now... I don't write often, but most of my writing pops out as a musing or a rant about something or other, though I am working on the sequel to Tomorrow right now. I have yet to decide whether to share it here. If ever I find it worthy of publishing, it should probably have never been publicly available, correct?
I still write for awareness occasionally and every once in a while I'll need to get out a few anxious thoughts, but most of my writing now is centered on a story I started previously.

Topic: What's YOUR Phobia?
Posted: 18 Dec 2015 00:59

Claustrophobia - fear of confined spaces
Hydrophobia - fear of water
Telephobia - fear of answering the phone or calling someone on the phone (usually seen in cases of social anxiety)

I'm also rather scared of spiders, snakes, and other various insects/etc, but I do not have an actual PHOBIA of them. My fear of water is extreme- I can get in the shallow end of the pool, but that's about it, and forget about lakes and ocean water. The phone one makes my job rather stressful and getting a different job quite difficult as, while I CAN answer the phone, it's freaking terrifying. Claustrophobia is rather normal in my family and mine's not too bad. My grandma doesn't like elevators while I can tolerate them. I couldn't do closets or- as much as I want one for my bed- a coffin bed that closed, but other than that... meh.

Save Their Innocence: A Musing

“Somebody!” “Please!” “Please, somebody !” The screams fill my ears as I watch the news video play out. The gunshots punctuate every cry with a hollow shout. My heart beats like a hummingbird’s wings with the knowledge that if we do not fix this - if this just keeps going and we don't change something in our system - my nieces could have to worry about this when they go to school. When...

LDR Musing II: Andrew and I and Unemployment // Long Distance Sucks

Long Distance isn't romantic. It isn't hidden love letters and long visits with the knowledge you'll see them again in six months. Long distance is loving someone so much it hurts to be away from them. It's knowing that they're blushing or smiling or crying just by the tone of their silence - they don't even have to giggle or speak anymore, you just know. It's dreaming that they are there...

Today: Chapter One

“Once upon a time, I ripped the wings from my spine…” - Special Pets by Otep. “Can’t get your way, so you’re angry.” - Halestorm. “I can’t keep quiet…” - Quiet by Milck. “ “No!” The nightmare ends as I re-enter reality, feeling around for the lamp in the darkness of the early morning. The alarm clock alerts me to the fact that it’s only two-thirty in the A.M. and I still have...

LDR Musing: Me and Andrew and Distance

I started this and realized I don't really know what I'm going to write... it's been a long, long time since I last wrote anything on here, so I guess this is just going to be a musing... maybe. It's been a little over three months since I stayed the night at a friend's house and we drove to pick up Andrew at the airport the next day. That day was amazing - like a dream come true. We...

Philena: So Tired

"Come here, 'Lena. Come over to your stepfather."  He beckons to me and I walk over, thinking maybe, just maybe, that day at the Zoo was a one-time thing. Maybe... maybe he wouldn't hurt me any more. Maybe he'd be a new Dad- not so much a replacement for Daddy, but a new one. Someone to keep his spot warm. "That's a good little girl. Come on."  He removes my pants and holds me...

Death by Disorders

"Help is on the way... but it never came!" - Help Is On The Way by Rise Against.     It began as a trickle, a wee stream, but it's growing now the river  looks more like a lake and the lake like an ocean.   and you stand on the shore awaiting help that never comes.   [drowning in depression]   And it began as a word, a wee breath, but they want more now the breath ...

I Need A Vacation (From Myself)

"2am and I'm still awake, writing a song. If I get it all down on paper it's no longer inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to." -Anna Nalick, Just Breathe. They say I'm out of my head , but oh how they are wrong . I'm so stuck inside my head, over-thinking and over-anxious and over-exaggerating every emotion until I've over done myself and I fry my emotions and then I'm...

I fall asleep after our Skype session, not even glancing at the clock because I know it's early morning. We say "Goodnight, sleep well and sweet dreams" and our I love yous. It is getting increasingly more difficult to end the call afterwards, because all I want to do all day, every day is Skype with you. All I want to do now, all day, is be with you. I am aching to hold you in May even...
