About curvygalore

Biography

I'm a voracious reader and enjoy writing too. I particularly enjoy all things historical, both factual and fictionalised.

Name:
curvygalore
Sex:
Female
Interests:
I enjoy books, movies, music, yoga, walks by the sea. I love to cook and also I'm lucky enough to enjoy a busy social life. Most of all, I live to dance.
Favorite Books:
Far too many to list! One of my faves is 'Roaring Boys' by Judith Cook. She brings Shakespearian London to vibrant life!
Favorite Authors:
Depends on my mood: but anything from Jane Austen to Dorothy L Sayers to Phil Rickman and anything and everything in between and before and after.
Favorite Movies:
Fave genre would be film noir, also anything from Powell & Pressburger. I do love film in general, but the only genres I would avoid would be rom coms and musicals (shudder). Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule.
Favourite TV Shows:
Usually dramas and history programmes. I'm particularly enjoying The Last Kingdom currently, which is an adaptation of the Bernard Cornwell series.
Favorite Music:
Almost everything, especially if I can dance to it!

Oh this is great!

I could maybe put in a bit of my YA novel that is all about time shifts. Must get my computer fixed so I can access my files!

If you lived close by, I could probably help with that. Unless it's a Mac. Then I'd be over with my axe.

Hehe! I bet you're glad I live the other side of the pond! ;) but that is incredibly kind of you. Thank you for the offer!

I have an ancient Dell so it's not deserving of an axe... yet!

Good morning. I'll have a cuppa java to start the day, if you please.

Rehearsal today in an hour or so. Should be fun.

Happy tea time to everyone else.

Hope rehearsals went well yesterday, Larry!

Coffee to get me going this morning, please! ☕

Much as I admit to not liking Earl Grey your post reminded me to check my pantry, as I have friends who do like Earl Grey. This is what you have to choose from if you ever visit me ..

Queens Earl Grey (Darjeeling spoilt with bergamont.. sorry couldn't resist)

Blue Star Earl Grey (Black tea and flower petals.. according to the label)

French Earl Grey (a must here ... black tea, fruit, flower petals)

Earl Grey Organic (for really fussy friends.. label just says black tea, bergamot)

I hope you enjoy French pastries? They are always fresh as it's impossible for them to last a whole day with me around

Ooh, tea and pastries! How can I resist! Thank you Hayley! :)

Yes, bergamot seems to be the marmite of tea flavours. You either love it or hate it! ☕

This is weird, what are you referring to or implying?

Was puzzling over that myself. Where I come from "Earl Grey" just means Ceylonese black tea with oil of bergamot. The tea stores I frequent often add additional flavourings to create variations, but that's the basic Earl.

'Tis now late afternoon, so a nice green will fill my cup going forward.

I agree. There's all sorts of flavours added to 'spice up' the flavour, which is fair enough, but I start the day with the basic version. Just black tea with oil of bergamot. So refreshing. ☕

And it's Friday morning, 50-60 mph winds forecast today and bucketliads of rain.

I need a coffee to fortify me before I go out! ☕

I'm admiring all the array of pie ideas! Delicious!

An orange juice and sparkling water, please. :)

Raining again today! ☔ A hot strong coffee would go down nicely, please!

Gill, your menu refining and delegating sounds like a very sensible plan for all those Thanksgiving guests.

Hope it's less blowy with you today, Scott!

lashing rain! ☕

You, too, eh. Nasty out there this morning. Could take a cold shower just by stepping out the door naked (not recommended in Ontario in November, though, unless you're fond of hypothermia).

I'll put a full kettle on for the tea and hot chocolate crowd. Which includes me (yes, I am a rare IT geek who doesn't drink coffee).

We have lashing rain here forecast all week (or possibly all winter!) It's not actually cold, although a bit nippy for bare skin!

Hot chocolate before bedtime sounds just right! 🍫

End Game

John strode across the bustle of Piccadilly, the wide road alive with people even at this late hour. He was glad to turn his steps towards home and to disappear into the huddle of dark streets that was Soho. He felt more at ease here in the shadows than he did in the melee of the West End. There, flaming torches lit the way, gilding the streets with an orange glow leading towards the...

The Waking Dream

London, Spring 1816 He clearly remembered when he first became aware of a hint of unease; a sense of otherworldly darkness. Before then in his life, of course, he had moments of disquiet in terms of worry and fretting, but they were normal daylight concerns. He remembered as if from a great distance his medical training in the cool grey light of Edinburgh, his careful studies on...

Roses are Red

Kate stumbled down the neatly raked path, her glasses steamed up with the heat of raw emotion and half-blinded by tears. She trusted she would find her way to her favourite spot in the Walled Garden if she were blindfolded, or even in the pitch dark. That was if the entrance hadn’t been barred by solid metal doors at nighttime. It was as though she was led by a homing device to her place...

A Glimpse of Heaven

Perched on a craggy outcrop, staring out to sea, the priest opened his mind and his heart to God. In such wild and lonely places, he felt closest to his Maker and His divine word. He was not a young man, and knew his role as a travelling preacher, bringing God’s message to those isolated enough to be those starved of it, would not last forever. Previously, he could put in a day’s march in...

Dancin' the Blues

Dancin’ the blues Is a complicated business; First, you focus on the rhythm, Then you try to feel How your partner moves, Fumbling to sway with his groove: Most of all, you strain to blend with All the glory of That music, In three or four pressurised minutes, When you concentrate intensely On all these elements. If you can surrender To the beat, your partner, That music, ...
