Oh and Hawaii and Alaska.

I recently watched Breaking Bad again.

I think that it is the best written, directed, acted, and completed series that I've seen. And I watch pretty much everything.

Topic: What is your favorite season, and why?
Posted: 01 Feb 2020 19:11

I like three seasons. I can do without winter.

Where I live, it only snowed twice this winter which is good. I don't mind the cold, but I hate snow.

As I get older, I enjoy slightly brisk temperatures.

I like to be able to walk around in shorts and t shirt without getting sweaty. I like the pacific Northwest because it's mild all the time. Summer in Victoria is pretty nice. In the Okanagan, I like late September.

I used to love summer, but now that I'm blind and have to walk everywhere, it's a bit of a chore. I use my air conditioner from February to November.

Several times I've tried to read Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad. For the life of me I cannot get through even the first chapter.

I believe the only Conrad work I read to completion was Heart of Darkness. That was not because I wanted to do so. It was required reading in one of my literature classes.

I actually had to force myself to read that one as well.

I love the topic, but that book is very over rated.

Thank you...

And also let's address the issue of zoo-viruses spread between species.

There is a reason why these viruses spread from China... Open air markets stack animals of different species and allow for transmission of viruses. Live animals are stacked on top of one another with no regard for disease transmission. Viruses spread and mutate. It's only a matter of time before a virus wipes out humans.

And please don't tag me with the title of cultural insensitivity. You can not lock up dogs, bats and salamanders and sell them to people as meat if you have any basic knowledge of microbiology.

This has long been an issue with me, and I expect more pandemics to occur in the future.

The storage of animals for human consumption is a breeding ground for viruses. We can't do this anymore.

Topic: What movie did you see in the theater or on DVD?

This year was pretty good for movies.

Uncut Gems is probably my favorite of the year.

I also loved Jojo Rabbit, Queen and Slim, The King, The Nightengale, 1917, Bombshell...

It took me three times to finish Lord of the Rings... Actually it took me three times just to finish "Fellowship of the Ring." I got super tired of Bilbo's birthday party.

Once I got past that, it was a breeze. But at 12 years old, all that first 400 pages is a bit tough to get through.

I have had books that I set aside and then come back to...

Devil in the White City... King Leopold's Ghost...

I usually alternate between reading and audio books so I'll get it one way or the other.

Mussels... or clams or you prefer.

Garlic, shallot and lemon zest with a bit olive oil. Then toss in some champagne. Bring to a boil. Throw in clams or mussels.

Sprinkle with parsley and lemon.

A loaf of baguette is nice.

Topic: Can We get a "history" section?

I hope this gets done soon... I would love to post my story about the murder of the Romanovs without having to add a subplot about Anastasia having sex in a closet with a Bolshevik guard.

Or my story about Anne Boleyn's execution without including her not-so romantic trysts with a gouty ginger fat-ass with a filthy infected leg wound.
