I write under the pseudonym "e.g. louis," so I guess you all can call me "e." or "louis" or "e.g" or I suppose whatever you feel like calling me! I'm an aspiring writer of fiction and poetry, and I'm about to graduate from the University of Texas with a degree in Rhetoric and Writing. I've been looking for a way to social network with other writers in a relatively casual way and this place seems like a pretty good fit so far. Anyways, see you all around!

Topic: What are you reading at the moment?
Posted: 16 Mar 2013 22:02

I'm on a big Neil Gaiman binge right now. I received the Sandman Vol. 1-10 slipcase for Christmas, so I'm trying to power my way through those (on vol. 8 at the moment); also, finished Neverwhere a few weeks ago, and reading Stardust right now. I'm only in my early 20's, so it's refreshing having an entire back log of books from an author who's been writing since before I was born --I only wish I was around when he originally published some of these stories, so I could be "hipster cool" about reading his titles...

Topic: Check out my online short fiction series "Five Minute Adventures"!

Hi everyone,

I'm new around here and this is my first post (hope it isn't too egocentric that my first post is in the "Sing Your Own Praises" section!) Anyways, a few weeks ago, I launched a project at fiveminuteadventures dot com. Essentially, Monday through Friday every week, I do "flash" five-minute writing sessions each day, and then I compile those five sessions into a short story for the week. It's been a lot of fun, and I figured this site would be the perfect place to share my project and its progress so far. The reception from people who have viewed it so far has been pretty strong, but I'd definitely appreciate more readers, viewers, and definitely more feedback. So, please check it out and tell me what you think!

Five Minute Adventures Presents: Mister Sunshine

He was a tinkerer ever since he could remember; plastic bricks, tiny fake logs, that’s how it all began. Since then, he had graduated to bigger and better things–they weren’t actually very big things in any literal sense of the word, but definitely much better, definitely more serious, definitely more important. It sparked and sizzled out between the cold, steel tongs holding it in place....

Five Minute Adventures Presents: The Flying Ballerina

The plane had only been off the ground for about fifteen minutes when it hit turbulence. He was shaking; his white knuckled-hands gripped the arm rest, and his stomach tightened as he resisted the urge to vomit. It was only his second time flying. The first time was on his way to Novus Angelus--the place he was now leaving--and that trip didn't go too well. At least he managed to grab an...

Five Minute Adventures Presents: Raccoons Robbing Rail City

It was an evening like any other in Rail City, which means an incredible amount of crimes were going on. One such crime was a bank robbery on the corner of Blank and Generic Street. Our fearless hero was on the scene in record time. When the Captain arrived, he found three raccoons robbing a bank. No kidding, they were really raccoons--not just burglars with bandit masks. Raccoons!...
