About elizabethblack

Just a reader, not a writer. I strive to be quiet and listen. I have opinions, but try hard to be respectful and not let an opinion of mine, expressed without care, cause upset.
I live in a very rural area. A beautiful area, but have to drive a distance for a real choice in shopping.
I don't have the time I'd like to have to be online reading and participating in the forums.

Seems real life and it's demands get in the way of the complete life of leisure I desire.

If only I had self cleaning everything - and four full time gardners. I love to garden, but the weather must be absolutely perfect. Just looking forward to spending more time here and reading and getting familiar.

The Photograph

If it hadn't been for the miracle of the Internet and social media, Anne and Kevin would never have known each other. Even today they have only ever met online, although their relationship is as real to them as it would be between two people who live in the same place and time. Neither are in the first flush of youth; in fact, they are both well into what some describe as their twilight...

Our Love Story

Prologue From a purely personal point of view, happiness is extremely difficult to describe. We are either happy, or we are unhappy, and it seems that there is little we can do, however hard we may strive, to make ourselves happy. The story I am going to tell, is about two people, and how they eventually found happiness. Before the events described here, if they had thought about it,...

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light;
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more,
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.

Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.

Ring out the want, the care the sin,
The faithless coldness of the times;
Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes,
But ring the fuller minstrel in.

Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.

Ring out old shapes of foul disease,
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.

Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

Hi Elizabeth, how are things with you? It’s less than 2 weeks to Christmas so I thought you would appreciate this display at a garden centre in the Lake District.
