This or That

Chocolate.

On sundaes: A place I used to eat, I think it was the Canadian chain restaurant Swiss Chalet, used to have absolutely killer sundaes that were exactly what you describe. Haven't been there in years and with my diabetes, probably should steer clear of the sundaes even if I do go.

Comp entries: Agonize over them until the last second on the deadline or get them out as quick as possible?

In that dilemma right now. Started on the current comp. Found out it was going to be way to long for a 1000 word limit comp. Started to rewrite it. Read the first two stories of the comp. Realized mine was to tame (or lame). Now trying to come up with something for it. Usually, want to get it out of the way. Still hope to in the next day or two.

Write stories based on truth (or fact) or write totally fictional stories with no regard for accuracy or fact?

Since I mostly write fantasy and related for here, my stories tend to be fictional but truth can seep in, e.g. the used book store in Dash is based on my youthful days exploring the ones in my birthplace.

"Realistic" fiction or fantastical/speculative fiction?

Realistic fiction for sure. Stories about spirits, the supernatural, etc., are really hard for me.

Longer, more detailed stories with character development or shorter stories where the protagonist isn't as well defined?

Oh, I'm a big fan of character development, both writing and reading. That said, I also enjoy an interesting idea or clever story twist so I can be easy on that.

Lots of description or use hints and let the reader's imagination go wild?

Being a math and science major (as well studying law), I a descriptive, detail-oriented writer.

Urban or Rural for story setting?

I like rural settings, especially for horror.

No-bake cheesecake or traditional baked cheesecake?

Cheesecake is good no matter what. But, traditionally baked anything is always better than packaged food. Not like something right out of the oven.

Romance or Horror?

Traditionally, I've gone horror. Not so sure nowadays. I seem to have a romantic streak.

Contemporary romance or historical romance?

Hmmm, interesting choice. I'm choosing historical romance though. I like history, even though a mat/physics major in college.

Sea Food or Beef/chicken/Pork?

Seafood. Quite fond of it, really. We just had seafood chowder (mix of salmon, mussels, squid, scallops with potatoes) for dinner the last couple days.

Rice or potatoes for a starch?

Like both, with gravy. But my preference is for rice.

Movie or Dancing on a dinner date?

Movie. I'm a terrible dancer (my wife might have other ideas, though)

Rock out or bliss out?

Definitely bliss out. I avoid crowds and noise. Prefer the sounds of nature to the sounds of civilization. I envy Superman's 'Fortess of Solitude!'

Vacation on land or cruise at sea?

Land, there are too many horror stories about cruises gone wrong.

History museum or art gallery?

History museum if had it were only one, but art museums are nice too. Just like museums and history in general.

Stanley Cup or World Cup finals?

Not much of a sports watcher but I seem to lean more towards footie these days. That said, the World Cup is only every four years and the Stanley is annual, so I can watch 4 Stanley Cup finals for every World Cup final.😁

Card game: Play for cash or for fun?

For fun, or a silly amount, maybe pennies. I don't want to lose real money.

Play Monopoly or Life?

I have not played Life in so long (like, 40 years or something) that I would have to go with Monopoly. Haven't played it in a long time either but I played it so much, a lot of it is burned into my brain and I know I played with my son and his buds occasionally so that makes it within the last 20 years or so. I think my son's copy is still upstairs, though maybe he took it to Ottawa at some point.

Watch a sport or play a sport?

Play if winter sport (skiing, down-hill or cross-country, hockey, skating, sledding, etc.), watch if not a winter sport.

Fly or drive if time isn't critical?

Fly. I cannot drive.

Iced tea as long as it is unsweetened (hate sugar in my tea).

Piano or Quartet at a classical concert?

Quartet. Piano is nice but I love hearing how the instruments in a small ensemble interact.

Modern (20-21st century) or "Classical" (19th and earlier) classical music?

Modern, but I still enjoy classical music.

Morning or night person?

Morning! Like a good night's sleep; something my husband and I didn't get when our three daughters were born (now 5-3-3, so much better!).
