Nice to hear that you've found a kindred spirit, Elyse! Good on ya, mate!
OK, so I have a new story up:
It is two of the characters from Bear and Girl, but set before the beginning of the Bear & Girl series.
Hope you enjoy it!.

Thanks, y'all.
Funny thing is, he spent about ten days sliding into my DM's before I was ready to say anything to him...and now we're two months strong and still going.
Never know about those guys who slide into your DMs, eh. Sound like you got one of the good ones, though. We didn't have DMs to slide into in my day. 😉
Good morning and Happy New Week!! Hope you're all doing well. I have been better but I'll get there. 😊
For coffee, I'll put on a pot of Nicaraguan dark roast. Teas are Yorkshire Tea and Peach White. Soda stock looks good. Hot water is ready for other teas or hot chocolate.
Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.
I am looking forward to reading more in that B&G universe, James.
Escape-from-reality weekend. I must have played No Man’s Sky for 20 hours (there’s a beachhead expedition afoot). Talia said, not untruly, I was escaping certain political realities by playing in space all weekend. She’s not wrong.
Back to the salt mines though. Two new stories to polish and send out today. One is about fairies, and I am having a tough time finding the tone. I am really trying hard to write a hopeful story.
Snow is finally melting. Coffee would be wonderful.

I did get one of the good ones. He's wonderful and supportive and doesn't mind that I can get kinda clingy. Plus...he supports my love for Tommy in ways nobody else does so...yeah.

Liking Tom Petty is something to be supported for sure. I met someone who didn't like Petty and told them, "Don't come around here no more." 😉🤣
That's not wrong. I think I would've told them not to do me like that, but that's just me. 😏

There is no snow here, and it has been weirdly warm and humid. I am not a fan; I am ready for cooler temperatures.
My life is a bit more settled now. We moved my Dad into memory care, and it is going about how I expected. There are good days and bad days. But I know he is safe and cared for. I almost have their apartment cleared out, but I'm still dealing with all the subsequent paperwork that comes with the death of one parent and the relocation of another parent. But I am relieved to be back full-time at my own house. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. All my kids will be here. They have all been incredibly supportive during everything. They are good sons.
I'll be around more now. I've missed everyone and catching up on everyone's news.
Have a good evening, and take care of yourselves. Cheers!
Hey, Gil, glad to hear you're home and things are a bit more stable. Take care of yourself, eh.
For the rest of you, how about some dark roast Jamaican Blue Mountain? Or Irish Breakfast and Buddha's Blend if you're into tea. And the hot water is there if you want some other tea or a nice steaming mug of hot chocolate.
Quite chilly here now, but still no real signs of winter yet, for which I am grateful. Had a guy out to inspect and clean the furnace yesterday so we are ready when it arrives.
Later, alligators.

Gil, so psyched you are back in your own house, and that your boys are coming home and, most importantly, have been supportive. It'll be nice t have you around more.
Thanks for the cookies Molly! Good to have you back too! Thanks for the cookies.
Nothing new today. I'm up to Phase Three in the Beachhead Expedition (I know that means nothing to anyone here). It's hard work - I was playing for like three hours last night.
Time to drink some coffee and try to fix this dumb fairy story. Cookies to go with my coffee would be a dream come true.

dumb fairy story
So is it a story about dumb fairies (fairies who don't talk? fairies with an abysmal IQ?)? Or a dumb story about fairies? Or a dumb story told by a fairy? There's so much to unpack in these three words. Or maybe I am overthinking?

A dumb story about fairies, since I don't know crap about fairies.

Hey there, hi there, ho there.
Finally settling down to work on a story for another site. About time, too – in fact, almost out of time.
That, plus housework, plus my normal environmental research, plus trying to keep Bear and Girl moving is keeping me busy.
Gillian, sad and glad to hear your news. I know it's heartbreaking, but, as Mendalla said, take care of you, because if you don't, you can't take care of anyone else.
I'd like to try some of the Buddha's Blend, and a couple of peanut butter/Hersey's cookies, please.

Woo hoo, it's Hump Day! (No camels were harmed in the making of this post. Or ridden for that matter.)
For coffee, let's go with good old Deathwish Dark Roast.
Teas? Hmmm. Assam Organic and Coconut Cream White.
Hot water is on for those wanting other teas or a cup of hot chocolate (marshmallows provided).
And there's a magical assortment of sodas for those needing something cold and fizzy. ("magical" meaning whatever soda you want just happens to be there).
Writing is kind of on pause. Too much else happening in my life right now. Might have time going forward. We shall see.

Hello all.
Same old thing here. Snow is all finally starting to melt. Finished two stories, they are going out today (including the dumb fairy story, which may have turned out better than it has any right to).
I will walk today too, even though it won’t get above 50 degrees. Time to start dressing for winter walks.
I’d love a coffee and a cinnamon donut hole thing please. But

Right now, where Lady Jay and I live, the nighttime temps are flirting above and below zero (that's Celsius for the uninformed). It has been unseasonably warm here until about now, but I suspect that's going to change.
They're saying we're going to have a La Niña winter, which means cold and snowy – yet the La Niña engine (in the Pacific off Peru) doesn't seem to be able to catch, just splitters.
So, climate-wise, the new normal is no normal, right?

Anyhow, good morning, folks. We have some Tobermory Flowerpot Island in the coffee pot. For teas, there's English Breakfast and Sencha. Hot water, sodas, ya da ya da.
How's your day going?

Pfft. Wimp. 😊 Any temp above 32 (0 in the real system) is warm.
And yet I wimped out on even that. Maybe today.
Same old thang here. Write, walk (if I don’t wimp out again), play No Man’s Sky. One week left in the expedition!
Aren’t baseball winter meetings happening? I haven’t heard a peep.
Coffee and a cookie as always!

It's strange getting used to a new reality and schedule. I managed to delay a lot of my grieving for my mother. I couldn't afford to fall apart or take the time while I still the had to care for my dad. He's adjusting as expected to his new surroundings. Some days he demands to leave and is belligerent, others he's fairly calm with some lucid moments. It's all sad. I find myself in pieces this week. I see him every morning and take him swimming. He still loves swimming. When I leave I cry the whole way home. It's a process, I know.
I can't wait until Thanksgiving to see my boys. They are so much fun when they visit, and my daughter in laws are all wonderful woman.
Cool dreary day here, but hopefully the predicted rain will materialize. We haven't had any rain in over a month.
Take care of yourselves.

We had a fairly dry October but have had wet weather this past Sunday and again today. Drove almost 3 hours in rain and mist on Sunday.

Good morning, O Inspired Ones!!
Bit grey here but not totally terrible. How's things out your way?
For coffee, let's see. Dark roast from Colombia should be good.
Tea? Hmm. Canadian Breakfast and Vinyl Cafe, both original Canuck blends from my local shop.
Hot water is there for those wanting some other teas or hot chocolate.
And here's some snacks, both healthy and less so.

Be careful of that delayed grief, Gill, dear. That can fire on you with both barrels. I am glad your boys will be around, that will lift your heart.
Here’s a pro tip, if you want a quick turnaround on a story, send it to Weird Horror. I was rejected within 12 hours, and 8 of that was sleep. Yeesh.
Nothing new here. I have a good friend who is moving to Ireland. She can’t live here any more. Makes me sad.
But at least there are cookies and coffee to help us through the day! Seize the carp!

I am hearing more and more stories about Americans wanting to "get out". It is sad. I love your country even if I love mine more and if I ever was to live in a country other than Canada, it would be the USA*. I've come close a couple times, too, due to my wife's career.
*Well, some parts thereof. I would not, for instance, be a very good fit for the Deep South, much as I enjoy visiting parts of it.
