Topic: When discussing poetry
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 13:19

<img src="/images/emoticons/hello.gif" alt="hello2">

I never write for an audience but I admire those who do especially and are successful. For me to write poetry for an audience assumes a skill I do not possess.

Simply I write for myself, from my heart. If people read it then that is the ultimate compliment. I think poetry is such a personal thing. It's like pouring your heart, sometimes your soul, onto paper, into text. I think all poets should write only for themselves. Poetry is that personal.

Writing a novel or the banality of contributing to a blog or mag on some subject or another, that is writing for an audience. Poetry is quite different.

Topic: Is poetry for the eye or ear???
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 13:02

<img src="/images/emoticons/hello.gif" alt="hello2">

Originally for the ear surely, because most people couldn't read. Today, I suppose, we would call them songs which are just poems set to music .. or music set to poems.

For the eye, certainly, because we now read.

So both? Yes both I think. However, when reading, doesn't the mind take over and turn verse into song? Perhaps we are missing something here?

Perhaps poetry is for more than the eye or ear. Perhaps poetry is for the soul :D

Just A Dream

Am I just a dream Will I fade away Like the fog in the morning sun Or am I a lasting dream For many years to come How I want to be real Only for you Be more than a dream More than a foggy mist How I long to be real Real for you To make your wildest dreams Come true I'm sitting here quietly thinking How your sweet words have played their part Somehow I knew that they would When...

Lonely Heart

It's true that every young girl is a dreamer  She dreams each day to give her heart away  For Love so true it takes her to the heavens  Love's aching loneliness she'll kiss away I've known the best that Love can surely offer  Been past the joys of Love's extremities  I've been around the stars so many times now  I quite forgot how lonely one can be I sit and watch the rain lash on...

Love's Dream

As morning light my window breaks  Warm sunbeams dance and wash my face  With fairy fingers fine as lace  My only thought is you  Was it just a dream supposed  Above us moon lit silver rose  As blood red lips firm kisses showed  The needs of our embrace Your body alabaster white  Hair flowed bright orange in that light  Soft full breasts so milky white  Firm fondling in my hands ...

Love Yesterday Tomorrow

I saw you you claimed me  That night was the start  In the moment I met you  I gave you my heart  Ours was a true Love  Born pure sweet and new  And so my young footsteps  Were following you We strolled through your woodland You gave me your hand  And walked me through Life  So that I'd understand  You taught me so much  I thought we'd never part  As flowers catch the sun  So...

Love's Shadow

Love is but a shadow In the shadow of evening Where sunlight sinks  Drowning  In reflecting silver  Of moon and stars  Their light  A beacon for Lovers  To begin Are you her?  She who follows  Silent  Through cloister hall passage  To my door?  Not a knocking enter  Just a knowing glance  Drawn in by our fire  No words Eyes greet  My blush grows brighter  Than the...
