Things you might need to know about LousyNick... He can’t walk past a bookstore without going inside and buying something (he even spent a stretch working in one just for the employee discount). He is a terrible, terrible dancer, and should avoid karaoke at all costs (but doesn't). He loves science and skepticism and a good debate down in the pub. And he’s rumoured to be the second laziest bastard in the world (but he tries harder). He doesn’t give a damn who won the cricket or the rugby or the amateur curling, unless he has money on it (and he always does). Also, he seems to have developed an annoying tendency to refer to himself in the third person. He’s wandering whether he should see someone about that.
Looks like I'm just gonna join the chorus - TNG for the win, thanks to...well, everything, really, but mostly JLP. Spock and the gang from the original series are pretty good, too...but just never felt the love for that Kirk guy...
Charles Schulz(the Peanuts cartoon guy who made us all happy and Charlie Brown miserable for so many decades)
Alrighty - that's perfectly sensible, and all well and good. So much for the maximums. But how bout those of us who're likely to write maaaaybe a story a month, in a good month, when we're not too busy, when we remember... That kinda thing isn't frowned upon, is it?
A nosy friend of mine told me about it. Also the friend who convinced me to start using this name. Now I'm trying to think what I did to make her do this to me...and how easily convinced I am to do strange things. Ah, well... :)
As we get older, we tend to forget a lot of things. How to build the perfect pillow fort, say, or how much fun it can be to climb a tree. Or just how much getting punched can hurt See, for most of us, as we get older, we start to concentrate more on finding a job, making some money, keeping a job, buying some nice things, taking a break from the job, going on a little vacation. The older...

It’s called Puppy Park for a reason. And today, that reason is obvious. There are canines of all kinds roaming around. English bulldogs and French bulldogs loping around lazily. A Jack Russell terrier is running around at a furious pace, a tiny brown-and-white blur nudging a kiddie soccer ball, growling at other dogs who want to join the fun. A gigantic golden retriever fighting to hold onto...

So here's the deal: you probably think of 15 February as just That Day After Valentines Day, right? Well, yeah, it is that...but it's also so much more, a fun day in its own right, celebrated by hundreds and snickered at by thousands. It's John Frum Day! John Who Day? So today we commemorate the occasion, many years ago, when beings from another realm visited the tiny island of Vanuatu...

Don’t talk to me about love. I wrote the book on it. Literally. And for that sin, I alone am escaped to tell you the tale of the Battle of the Sexes and the End of Man. Okay, that’s not quite accurate. The book wasn’t really about love. But it was about dating, and lust, and sex, and how to facilitate all of that. And there was enough sin to go around - if that girl hadn’t broke my heart,...

Happiness is horizontal Just lying here With her I hold her in my arms She's warm Inviting Beautiful (of course) She breathes In Out In Shivers I hold her closer Kiss her cheek Her hair smells of spring Of sunny days Blue skies Bliss I close my eyes And I'm Gone ...

He didn’t know how he’d found his way to this part of town. In fact, he didn’t even know where this part of town was. All he knew was that the streets were suddenly empty, and the mist was heavy, and nothing looked familiar, and that made him uneasy. He walked faster, whistling as he went – a hauntingly beautiful tune never heard before in this world … and barely heard even now. He heard...

Every day, he got into his car and drove. Every day, he was free. He could just keep going. Drive to the mountains, or the lake, or the forest, or a city far away. He could go on wild adventures, travel to exotic places, see how folks lived over there. Ride elephants, jump out of planes, dance with a stranger, read a book in the park. He could see the sun set over the ocean a...

Once upon a time, there lived a boy who loved only books. Comic books, textbooks, crime noir, Westerns, romance, classics, pop-science, esoterica, ancient philosophy and mythology. Trilogies, prequels, sequels, reboots, stand-alone, shared worlds. If it had ink and paper, he'd read it. And he had his favourites, oh yes – but Bookboy knew better than to judge a book by its cover. So he gave...

You’re reading magazines wrong. See, if you’re anything like me, you treat these magazine things* as highly disposable sources of information. You buy them (or steal them, I guess, and shame on you), read them once (if that) and then never touch them again. You get that sweet, sweet content fix you were looking for. Then it’s over. Maybe you throw the mags away. Maybe you store them...
