About Oldfaithful

I came here via the "other" site first. On there I enjoy reading the stories but my main reason for logging on is to chat to the friends I have made there. I'm not a prolific writer by any means but recently I have found great enjoyment writing small pieces. My life mostly revolves around my wife and kids leaving little time for writing longer pieces.

I like to write about relationships, romance and love. What are we if we do not have love in our lives?

Sisters Found

Amazing and beautiful sisters I’ve found. Cross generations and continents abound.   Newly found kin from yesterday and today. Welcome and comfort in a heartfelt way.   Voices bringing sisters back to the light. Gone but not forgotten makes the journey feel right.   Gathering mixed emotions along the new way. Sadness for the missed, joy for my sisters who play.   Though divided...

The Truth About Guilt

There you go - feeling guilty again, fearing what you may have said or done.   Guilt is nothing more than a sign of a beauty within, for only beautiful people suffer the burden of guilt.   Only the kind possess it. Only the thoughtful carry it. Only the caring bear responsibility for it, and only the compassionate feel it.   Don’t shy away from guilt, embrace it, for it only...

For Betsy

For Betsy   We are strangers, but remarkably familiar. We are separated, but strangely connected. We are parallel lives, that once were as one. Finally reconnected after wasted years apart.     In all that time, nothing more than a photo. A beautiful young lady, her sweet smile shining through. Even as a young child, held close to my heart. Never forgotten but sadly never known.   ...

Little Demons

We all have our demons  telling us what we least want to hear, we should have done better  and what we’re most likely to fear.   They know us like no other whatever we might say, they’ll work on your weakness however much you pray.   They know which string to pull the one that pulls most at your heart, it says you’re the one to blame, the feeling of guilt off the chart.   ...

Friendships Lost

My heart is not opened easily, few true friends have I along with my wife. But for those very few, I make room in my heart for life. It’s not easy, and I wish it were not so, for over the years, friends do come and go. I hate to lose touch and cling on to history, when I was as important as they are to me. Love is hard when it’s a one-way street, giving them your soul dreaming when...

The Thunderbolt and The Making of a Man

I first laid eyes on her on my first day at University. The place was buzzing with new Freshers arriving, unpacking and meeting new roommates. It took me a matter of seconds to work out that my roommate and I were not going to have a great deal in common. Judging by his appearance, his life was very much centred around 80’s heavy metal bands. And within seconds he had his “music” blaring away...

Take A Chance on Me

Would you take a chance on me? You’d know what you’d be getting, I’m exactly what it says on the tin. I’d be that man you can rely on, there for you through thick and thin. Would you take a chance on me? I’d do my fair share of the housework, cooking, cleaning and ironing galore. I’d be that man you can rely on, there for you to cherish and adore. Would you take a chance...
