About SindhuriSathiyaraj

Scatter brained with a touch of the bipolar; stubborn to the point of annoying; memory like a sieve and on the verge of developing OCD...I would love to meet vampires (veggie vampires of course), hobbits and wizards; slapstick humor more than tickles me and am blessed with wonderful friends and a forgiving husband who care about me enough to ignore my traits listed in the first line of this paragraph. Give me a good book of science fiction or fantasy; a huge bag of puffed rice; a cozy window spot and am dead to the world !!!

I discovered writing in my 8th Grade, when I won the first prize for Creative Writing in my school's Old Students' Carnival. I had written something vague about caterpillars and trains on the topic "Down the memory lane". What I had considered nonsensical was labelled "Creative Writing" and my submission was chosen the best. That was the starting point of my creative writing escapades (I like to call it that, because later on in a different school, creative writing contests were my key to freedom) and I kept on writing till I finished my schooling.

I was denied a regular college life, as I pursued Chartered Accountancy and the only way I could use my creativity in CA was in my Information Technology answer paper.

Since I'm in the last leg of my CA life (hope that leg gets chopped off as soon as possible), I have again commenced foraying into the world of creative writing, trying to catch up.

I've already got a blog up and going, but this site will help me much more, with peers and mentors in abundance.

Now let's do this. Cheers!!!

"Land Mafia; Royal Enfield; Beer pitcher; Pigeon racing" Odd combination, right? Well, that was what one of my creative friends gave, to use and weave a story out of it. It was pretty challenging and here is the story of a man who couldn't live his life on his own terms. Read ahead. Lark tried not to retch at the sight of so much blood. He had not meant to break the guy's nose. The wounded...

'A' for Astral

An unprovoked fear of darkness rises in my heart and I run outside to see the street, empty and ominous. Darkness has fallen with such swiftness, that it feels like someone had brought it on with a flick. Where am I? With my unseeing eyes roving the street for darker shadows, I rake my mind to know the source of my rising heart beat and mindless panic. But, before I could figure it...

Laughter is a distant memory for Jack, the clown. Life, as he knows is over for him. A prisoner by choice, will he find the will to live once again? He was a clown. An ugly clown at that. With his face painted a sickly white and his nose a blood red; the pockmarks and scars were hidden, but not the wood-like hardness that had got permanently etched. He had yellow straggly hair, it's...

The Turn Around

After her 20 th pill, the water tasted bitter and she gagged involuntarily. She wanted to pee now, having drunk at least three glasses of water. Whether it was the anti-depressants taking effect or just the numbness which had enveloped her; she didn’t know, but couldn’t get herself up to go to the bathroom. She simply sat on her bed, waiting for something to happen. She wanted to cry but...

Stories Coauthored

His mind was filled with very churlish thoughts as he willed his 5 year old, rickety motor bike to scale one of steepest bridges in the city. He cursed life for being unfair, his parents for being just and honest and cursed himself for being a spineless coward. He wanted to be filthy rich. This he knew even before he had learnt to spell the word poverty. But he had to take the longer route to...
