Challenge: Linda Ronstadt - - Ping

A legend begins after an impromptu, on-stage, self-deprecating mocking...

“What’s your name, sweetie?”

The young girl scanned the smoky room's self-absorbed, faceless heads before answering.

“Linda,” the MC repeated, “How old are ya, darlin’?”

After mumbling her response, the crouching man asked the inattentive crowd to warmly welcome the little brown-haired girl with the big girl performing dream. Linda patiently waited for the social-drinking faction to settle before beginning. However, they continued to ignore her and boorishly indulged themselves.

Not to be denied her destiny, Linda gained their attention by confidently enunciating into the microphone.

“Poor, poor, pitiful me,” she bravely howled before signaling the start of her band.
