A Deep Abiding Sadness

'Twas a deep, abiding sadness
In a chamber locked away,
And I took it out to ponder
At the dawning of each day.

It became my raison d'etre
As my loss became my pain.
Just a secret kept in silence,
I would not display the stain.

No one knows just what I felt
When her life rejected me.
But I can't allow my grief
To keep sailing this sad sea.

Watching frolicking and laughter,
Children playing in the sun,
Makes me wonder as I wander,
Is all grieving finally done.

It's a pitiful existence
When you lose your way in life,
But responding to your passion
May just guide you through the strife.

Feel exhilaration burning
Down inside your cloistered soul.
Join the magic that is living.
Make exuberance your goal.

Just allow your treasured memory
To get dusty from neglect,
And each newborn day that passes
Will renew your self respect.

Lust for life is all that matters,
Singing, swaying to the beat,
As the rhythm that you feel
Brings you twirling on your feet.

Changing sadness into gladness
May be all that you might need.
Spread your radiating fervor
And your joys will grow, indeed.

Lose your past adoring vision
As you search for new romance.
Love for loving will restore you
When you join it's zealous dance.
