I am looking for someone to rely on 
an ally and you tell me I have you.
I say I know, but you aren't always around.

So I asked if I could have the puppy you rescued
She is beautiful, loyal and ever so friendly
and I got the surprise of my life when you said "Yes."

Watching as you grab her lead off the bench
and then bend down and clip her lead to her collar as you whisper to her.
I see her eyes flicker between us and wonder what you said.

You stand up and tell her to come to me 
She looks at you then obeys the command
and she stops and sits at my feet.

I bend down patting her back 
as I pick up her lead 
and I look at you and smile.

I ask you what you said 
you shrug your shoulders 
as you give a little smile.

Then I hear you quietly say 
i told her she is to listen and obey you 
because you are a good person..

Also I told her to look after and protect you 
and if you are ever hurt or need help 
she is to come and get me because you are my best friend.

I walk over to you and give you a tight hug 
and a kiss on the cheek and say thank you so much.
Feeling ever so grateful that you trust and are so protective of me .
