Candle

This poem only available on Stories Space. If you are reading it elsewhere, it has been stolen.

Red velvet kindness wraps my heart
And heats my sodden spirit.
Limp, bedraggled soul of mine,
Grow with warmth and
Shine tears of joy into the night,
Where the monsters are thronged
Around the ring of this light,
And may not cross the
Threshold here.

Peace, heart,
And stay awhile
In golden glow and starlight gleaming.
Toast the soft sugar clouds
On the blaze of love and
Whisper sweetness into midnight.

For where darkness settles
And snow drifts softly,
There burns the candle
By which we find our way,
And angel kisses scent the gloom
Where they brush our faces with their wings.

Where we see not,
We feel much.
Where we yield not,
We lose.

Find the candle,
Watch it flicker.
Light your taper from its wick
And light another's candle
In their darkness,
That they may find a way
On their journey through the night.
