I hear his voice whisper

"I've met someone else, you see"

And my heart gave a lurch and my body jerked and tears fell like rain

It is always the same this sweet little stabbing pain

This twisted little knife that love welded

So he cut the tether that held us together,

Set me adrift in a sea with no end

Where storm clouds of loneliness loom and the thunder of I wonder who,

And the tidal wave of despair and self doubt bloom.

As I look for the shore it is just out of reach as the tidal wave hits,

And I find myself drowning in an undertow of rejection.

My chest fills with the slow suffocation of my heart.

So I float here in this sea with no end,

No help in sight and no signal fires to light.
