For Better or Worse

I may be a complicated, difficult, often times
short tempered, dare I say shrew?

I know I'm a mess, but for better or worse
you agreed and signed on the dotted line.
Did you really think in light of recent events
I could love you any less?

I'm almost insulted by things said and most
recently done by you.
Taking care of each other, I read that somewhere.
I'll force you to see it yet.
Twenty seven years and you still think
you're not the one?

Not long ago, you by my side, I closed my eyes.
We hopefully said not our last goodbyes.
Later I emerged to a proclamation, she's better,
She's fine, take her home, move on from this.
Why would you expect any less from me?
We both signed up for the highs and the lows.

The time for us to split is long gone.
Rock bottom was hit a few years ago.
Even after all the lies and deceit, we're staying
And stuck. No backing out mister.
I'm stubborn as you well know.
We're still making it work somehow.

So shut up, keep taking your meds
and get back on your bike.
Heart attack, sickness, remember, not just good health.
For better or worse, we'll keep going,
we've already made it this far.

I can honestly say after all these years,
With all the ups and the downs,
I'd rather give up my life than to ever stop
being your wife.
