I imagine it happened,

something like this-

though I've no clue whether it did,

or it did not...

Parents are gone,

just brother and sister home,

teasing each other like siblings do,

not thinking of what would happen to both...

in just a few..

He walks outside,

to her apartment he knows-

past knowledge-

don't think he was in his right mind,

still isn't-

never will be ever again.

Door is knocked in,

or maybe they answer-

thinking nothing of it.

He goes at her,

and the brother jumps in front,

taking the blow instead-

he's dead,

she's kidnapped-

10 hours.

Found.

Perpetrator locked away.

A couple weeks later-

candles lit for the hero whose

favorite kool-aid was blue,

blue t-shirts worn,

words said.

A year later-

lighting a blue candle

just for the hero who-

saved my friend's life,

losing his own.

***Walter, my friend's younger brother, was killed trying to save his sister from her ex-boyfriend a year ago May 31st... he would be 14 this year. I did not know him well, but his sister is one of my best friends, so even if I didn't know him well, the death hit her hard in turn hitting me also. I believe his favorite color was blue too, and so on May 31st I will be lighting a candle for him, the color- blue. Rest in Peace Walter***
