Liverpool Lullaby

Written for my dear friend..

Gabby my sweet darling girl

Your dreams they've all been shattered

Told you cannot love the one

The one that really mattered

You moved away to Liverpool

And took your love away

You took your ‘Judy’ with you

The one that you call Ray

Two loving souls that live as one

I know that you’re ‘made up’

You’ve made a life together

So drink from life’s sweet cup

I know your hearts a flutter

And everything is ‘sound’

No need to get a ‘cob on’

Your feet are on the ground

If you’re walking through the city

In the rain and wind and snow

Half a dozen ‘scousers’

Whistle as you go

Dancing down the Cavern Club

You grin from ear to ear

All the ’scally’s’ watching you

Because they think you're ‘gear’

Wrap up nice and warm up there

The waters edge is nippy

Walk home via rose lane

And nip into the ‘chippy’

When working down the ‘ozzy’

You put your patients first

So much love within your heart

So full it wants to burst

I know you’ll both be happy

Your love, it fills your home

Whatever you decide to do

‘You’ll never walk alone’
