I’ll forever allow you to breathe my air
I'd share my very last with you
When you are away, I'd endeavor to say
That the breaths that I take are too few
I love lying here with you like this
No disruptions, no worries, no sounds
Just the drum of our heartbeats dancing in union
And the thumping of rain drops
As they softly meet the ground
I don’t think I have ever noticed before
Just how sublime the curve of your lips
Supple and brown with small dimples in each corner
Beckoning to me tenderly to greet them with a kiss
But I think I'll repose in the cradle of your chest
While your fingers play lazily in my hair
And inhale the luscious scent of cinnamon and musk
That has drifted from your skin into the cool, moist air
You whisper that you love me as you kiss my nose
And a warmth ascends to my cheeks
I never thought I could ever trust those words
But I’ve learned that truth lives in every word that you speak
You handle me with such considerate hands
Make love to me with gentle words
You boast of my beauty and substance to strangers
And speak of my virtue with a reverence unheard
You confide in me your hopes and dreams
I’ll be your eternal soft place
In me you have found that one that you prayed for
We are the result of God’s enduring grace
And time for us is only time
We’ve braved some tough moments together
We battle through storms of incredible power
And we always prevail, no matter the weather
And even though we haven’t moved for hours
We refuse to budge from this space
‘Cause in each other we find a most perfect peace
And you’re that perfect piece that can never be replaced
