Seasons Beauty

In the land of many seasons
A frog leaps upon his throne
Reaching for his dew drop binoculars
He spies at lovers by his home

In the gleamy colors of spring
He witnesses a prince on bended knees
With eyes so full of dreaming
He remembers when at first they preened

It was a hot and humid summer
One where you feared to burn
He remembered lovers murmurs
That’s when things began to turn

The pair seemed lost inside their bubble
Not noticing the tiny eyes
Finding passion beside a dirty puddle
A frog was their only spy

This was how the days were spent
When the nights grew longer
As the pair grew closer in their net
Its when the prince began to ponder

Autumn came in many colors
The leaves became their bed
Their eyes were staring much softer
As his fingers played with tendrils of red

The slinky green frog watched in wonder
While the lady grew large and round
Wondering if she was becoming a mother
Not thinking too much as he dived down

For in the winter the frog retired
Leaving the lovers to their freeze
For by his little fire
The frog did not want to catch a sneeze

So much wondering about the lovers
And how the maiden faired
The frog new the spring would uncover
What the winter kept to herself

When the colors of spring started gleaming
The snow of winter melts away
No longer is the frog dreaming
He searches for his favorite pair today

What he sees beyond his home
Catches him by surprise
For the prince is on bended knees
With a little girl at his side

As he watches the prince reach out
To a hill of fresh dirt and flowers
He heart is breaking no doubt
For his love had no special power

While in his home beyond this grave
His lover took a chill
For this is the saddest day
On the flower covered hill
