"Growing old humorously"

I wonder at this face I see,

Looking back from the mirror and staring at me;

This stranger seems to wear my face,

Why didn’t I notice he took my place?

What happened to my long dark hair?

Now flowing grey and so much less there;

My eyes once blue like ponds of ice,

Turned pale and faded and not so nice;

This body once tanned and thought a porn star,

Now barely held together and best seen from afar;

Who is this guy in front of me?

He’s not the man I used to be;

What the hell happened between then and now?

How did it get from “Hey there, baby” to “Holy cow!!”

There had to be a wreck or a nuclear explosion,

This much damage can’t just be from age and erosion;

Maybe I’m under some spell or VooDoo curse,

From what I’m seeing it couldn’t be worse;

Better look again, I can’t believe my eyes,

Yep, just as I thought, my eyes were telling lies;

There’s nothing wrong now that I am thinking clear,

Whew!! That was close, I thought the end was near;

The longer I look I see me coming back,

For a moment there I was just a little off track;

Those are my eyes, my nose and my mouth,

I’m OK up north, but what about south?

I’m afraid to check and see what’s happened down there,

Should I check? Do I look? Do I really take the dare?

A buckle.. a zip.. a quick glance inside,

The truth will be seen and taken in stride;

Yikes!! What the hell!! How can this be?

Is that really all that’s left of me?

I wonder now if I could still be wrong,

This can’t be right and I knew it all along;

I look again in the mirror at the face I see,

Yep, I was right the first time.. that’s not me.
