The Best of Me

So much to consider . . .

I cannot bear to see you
Hurting in this way
Come here and let me comfort you
And chase your fears away

You must know I love you
Why do you doubt me so?
I have been here by your side
When it matters most

Don’t I show affection?
Provide stability?
Remember anniversaries?
Furnish all your needs?

The others? They mean nothing
Just foolish wild oats
You know I’m never gone for long
I always come back home

A fling and it’s all over
You’re the only one for me
You are my wife, my guiding light
My partner and my queen

We have a happy family
Two parents for our kids
How can you just deprive them
Based on your selfishness?

Please listen to reason
Leaving would be worse
The kids and I both need you
You can’t put yourself first

Nothing out there’s perfect
How can I make you see?
Despite the things I sometimes do
You get the best of me.
