The Distance Between

Shall I give it up and let it go,
or should I beg on bended knee
to be forgiven.

For what, I ask it over and over again,
and no answer comes,
that makes sense.

Hard to say,
hard to decide,
knowing that I have done nothing,
and yet,
I did something
else why

the distance

the irreconcilable distance you place

between

us.

Stars are dying,
have died
and yet
have not left the night sky.

Because they are distant,
so distant.

So perhaps
we have died
and yet still
shine
in the firmament for a moment in time,
one lasting moment,
still yet
to actually
die.

Still yet to die as us,
as a two,
as you and I,
we,
drifting deeper and deeper into the
recesses
of our minds,
and lost in the distant
tracks of time and space,
lost to us,
we still live,
we still may be able to give,
we still could be we two.

Do you agree,
or do you simply want
the shine and glitter and sparkle
to dull,
to dim.

To travel alone,
again,
once more
as before,
as you lived so despondently once upon a time,
and grieved.

Until I salved, and soothed,
my tender touch tried to tend to your heart
and you nestled.

Now I am adrift,
and you are where you were,
so shall I bend my knee and ask forgiveness,
request another try,
ask for pity,
seek to shine my gleaming
star crossed love
upon you once again,
if you allow,
if I can see the way,
if I can simply, uncomplicatedly, know why.
