What Do I Want to Be?

"Sometimes, only a seemingly trite poem can express what we want to say."

Your sun, your moon,
Your twinkling star?
Your beacon shining from afar?

Perhaps your joy,
Your waking dream,
Your glowing dawn and sunlit beam?

Perhaps your comfort
And embrace,
The smile that lights your downcast face?

Or maybe just your
Whispering friend,
When night seems it will never end?

Perhaps your shield,
Protecting arms,
Your safety from the worldly harms?

Your radiance,
Your earthly pleasure,
Your sweetly glinting hidden treasure?

Or maybe just
Your chuckling grin
When gloom surrounds, your smile within?

What can I give
That you don't own?
There's nothing I can give alone.

I'm not sexy,
I've no money,
My words are awkward, no sweet honey.

I've only honesty
And care,
My love is deep and kind and fair.

And so I offer
Open doors;
My everything is truly yours.
