Winter's Rose

Winter's Rose

My heart
Was like a rose,
Wilting
In the cold winter's night.
Its icy petals,
Fragile and cracked...

Waiting to shatter.

Your warm embrace
Was like the midnight sun
That warmed
And thawed
Me out,
From within.

Your voice
Was the steady
Rhythm
That caressed
My senses
In tune
With your smile.

Your touch
Ignited
A dormant need
For more,
An urgency to
Succumb
To the unknown.

In the haze
Of the cold winter's night,
I burned for you...

And your touch.
