DUI

Clasp the wheel
your hands do nothing
and you can't feel
as you lose control.

Black on black
the screeches sound
and you've lost track
of time.

It's like slow motion
is taking over
there's no emotion
as steel hits steel.

The only sound
is sirens calling
but you are drowned
in silence.

It's refreshing to read poetry with unique subject matter.

Interesting take on a subject not often touched in poetry, and the title caught my eye...I did have a DUI back in 1992...fortunately there was no accident though, just got pulled over for speeding...I guess it could have been a lot worse...

You have a wonderful way with words. I can see every inch and feel every second as it passes by.
