The most dangerous thing I ever did, probably also was the most stupid thing I ever did. Near where I lived as a kid was a highrise, 14 floors of concrete and appartments. Central in the building was a stairwell, with an open centre where you could look all the way up, or down, depending on where you where. Hanging from the ceiling of the fourteenth floor was a large iron ring, that could be used by movers to hoist furniture to any of the floors. One of the buddies I hung out with then, called me chicken and challenged me to prove I was not. He said, I would not dare to jump to that ring, to hang there for a full minute and then swing myself back over the four feet that separated it from the 14th floor. I took the challenge. We went up to that 14th floor, I climbed on the railing with 14 floors of void in front of me. I jumped to that ring, almost slipped off but managed to hang on, barely. My buddy counted the seconds out loud. Somewhere around 45 seconds my strength was leaving me, but I managed to hang on. Then, on 60 I tried to swing, to get back over that railing, only to discover the ring wouldn't budge. Somehow I managed to get back to the 14th floor and to avoid plummeting all the way down. I can tell you for sure, wisdom did not play a part in that. I have never been so stupid, or so scared, ever again.

A few, though I prefer to just call them compulsions. My worst one is when I'm shopping. The next customer thingy has to be straight. Perfectly straight. I also correct grammar and spelling in my head, when I see it misused.
