I hope you're okay.
A bit battered and bruised but otherwise ok, thanks, Molly. 🙄

A new and different writing challenge is coming soon to Stories Space.
The details are being worked out. Hopefully, it will be up and running in a few days.
It was to have been be posted already but everyday life has (as usual) interfered with getting it organised.
Stay tuned for details...

Disreputable fairies, silence money, blabbing goblins, and then Kernel Nellie lied. Things were seriously getting out of hand!
Lied-gerund
True story - a friend had an uncle everyone called Uncle Eggder, except she called him Uncle Edgar, as his name was spelled.
What that has to do with anything I don't know but there you go.![]()
Wait, yes, edger, that's the link. Whew!
(really time for lockdown to ease up here!)

Quite so, except the Goblin Chronicles, a newspaper of note, fail to relate a few salient facts in the case - namely, Messire Cumberbund was found wearing just such a cummerbund, and was alerted to the oddity of the situation by the fact that it kept slipping sideways and down. The godets, of course, left the article fluted at the lower edge and hence too ill fitting and loose to stay in place.
It also looked downright silly.

One learns something new every day! I thought that Cummerbund was a typo. I always understood the word to be Cumberbund!![]()
Imagine my surprise when I googled it!![]()

Just shows how regional differences can often be overlooked.![]()
Cummerbund-onerous
Then there's an actor by the name of Cumberbatch - I don't dare pronounce his name, it always comes out as cummerbund.![]()
Cumberbund would be a great name for a character in a story. The name of a sleuth, perhaps.

Talked to Kimmibegood on another site where we are both members. All is good. She is dealing with some difficult personal matters and that was affecting her mood. She sends congratulations to the winners and apologizes if she affected our celebrations. It was not really the comp results that upset her but the personal situation.

Third Place $15
The Berry Girl by Mendalla
Except that was US$15 which means $18 in my currency once Paypal converted it.Let's just say there's a reason my wife keeps her book royalties in USD rather than converting them. Makes travel in the States cheaper not having to convert.

Just wondering what we get for this competition? EP’s? RRs? All prize details seem to have disappeared![]()
I am kind of wondering, too. I think for the Summer Word Bank it was an EP for the winner and RRs for the runners-up. At least, The Berry Girl got an RR and I was third.
EDIT: Nope, it was EP for first and second, RR for third and below.

Forgive me for not posting congrats yesterday. I preach to everyone to not tie self-esteem to comp results and then I let it happen for the first time. My heart was tied to "Convergence" and thus broken, but I realize my heart in it didn't automatically make it great writing. I appreciate it being published.
I congratulate the podium ... Tams, Welshdreamer42, Mendalla, Paperboy, AnnaMayZing, and RedWriter ... many whom occupied the podium on multiple comps! Well done! Congrats to the remarkable rest of Top Tens!
I was also happy for first-timers, TheShyThespian and Fluttered, making Top Ten in the 2 crowded comps.
Thanks for putting on this comp and to the mods who published my entries.
Don't be downhearted, Kimmi. We all have our hearts tied strongly to what we do. Judging competitions involves many aspects, not least of which has got to be personal taste. Suppose a horror author entered a competition alongside a romance author and the judge was someone who was a great fan of Stephen King. If the Horror story won, that doesn't mean that the Romance story wasn't great.
Take a step back, feel a little sorry for yourself if you like, and then get down to more writing. I've been there, done that and got a hell of a lot of T-Shirts!
The trick is... DON'T GIVE UP!![]()

My first podium finish!
Congratulations! This was my second podium finish but my first win.
And you humbly failed to mention that you came 2nd in the cumulative score list as well as having a story in the top three of Full Length so well done, Anna!![]()

And others don't. I am thinking of The Hobbit. I feel that Peter Jackson ruined it with over-the-top action CGI and additional scenes. The Hobbit really didn't warrant another 10 hour rendition.![]()
![]()
The Rankin-Bass animated Hobbit was, on the other hand, very good even if it lost some bits (like Beorn). The Hobbit can be effectively done with a 2 or 3 hour movie. I have no idea what Jackson was thinking other than milking Middle Earth for all it's worth.

I hope everyone is doing well. I've been absent for a while. I spent time in the hospital and have been recovering at home for a few weeks. I had an asthma attack and tested positive for Covid. It went downhill from there.
My recovery has been a very slow process but I am grateful for the care I got and am getting. Other family members had only mild symptoms thankfully. Getting out of bed and showering without help had been my biggest accomplishment so far, but today I changed the sheets. Progress.
Stay healthy everyone and be very careful.
My recovery buddy.

I still have not seen it, but I heard from others that the Scouring of the Shire got axed as well. Too bad on both but movies are movies and books are books. Some things that work in one don't in the other and fully adapting some books, like LOTR, really requires a TV series in some cases.
