I AM an embarrassment to my friends

That's a profound statement, Keith, and I AM sure that you are not.
Today I am feeling a little sorry for myself. Whilst trimming a hedge with a petrol powered trimmer, the handle slipped in my hand and the blades hit my knee.
Fortunately, the safety brake operated but I now have three perfect impressions of the teeth carved into the flesh just above my left knee cap.
It isn't deep or serious but it did bleed quite a bit and it stings. Oh, and I was wearing jeans which were, amazingly, not damaged!

I think I need caffeine so a strong double espresso, please.

Mint chocolate provided it contains more than 85% cocoa.

WYR eat Tiramisu or Carrot cake?
Summer, although I have no problem with rain.

Rocky Mountaineer or The Ghan?
Since I haven't seen The Night Gallery I will go with The Twilight Zone.

Mermaid man or Superman?
This has nothing to do with the previous post and sincerely wish you well, Maryruth.

Hilarity

Wintery. I love snow.

Congratulations. That is quite an achievement. Well done, Anna.

Thank you, Larry!

As a moderator, I had the great pleasure of verifying 'Black Dog' by DearStarling and it really is a fascinating and very well written series.
I am sad to say that she has not returned to SS since writing this because it really is worthy of greater attention.

Unfortunately, we are haemorrhaging members at a great rate now and we really need to turn this around.

I would agree to an extent. Since my stories are counted in the hundreds, even 2500 would be an unlikely achievement.

It would appear that I underestimated myself. The first chapter of 'The Nurses' has now exceeded 2500 reads. I am stunned, humbled and yet proud, all at the same time.

For me the greatest loss will be the stained glass, especially the windows. But there are artisans today who can copy stained glass windows from pics with utterly amazing accuracy. Of course it will not be the same but for most it will suffice.

It appears that the three rose windows have survived intact but, even so, the glass in them is not original anyway. However, that said, it is a great sign that the Cathedral will rise again in splendour.

" The Rose windows are a trio of immense round stained-glass windows over the cathedral's three main portals that date back to the 13th century. All three appear to have been saved. Culture Minister Franck Riester said that the three windows do not appear to have suffered catastrophic damage."

"The original Great Organ, one of the world's most famous musical instruments, dates back to medieval times. Over the years, organ makers renovated the instrument and added onto it, but it still contained pipes from the Middle Ages before Monday's fire. The position of titular organist, or head organist, carries great prestige in France and around the world. The Archbishop of Paris confirmed the organ is safe, CNN affiliate BFM TV reported."

"The Paris Fire Brigade tweeted that the cathedral's stone construction has been "saved," as have the "main works of art." As more information emerges, what has been rescued from Notre Dame is becoming apparent."
