After nine years in the service
I think I've served my time.
When it comes to being called up,
You'll find I'm at the end of the line!

Today I discovered a new, to me at least, form of 'poetry'.
Haiku.

I would like to use the following as an example:

"Those girls enjoyed the
feel of the cool water on
their uncovered skin.
"

I stress that this is an example and what I am about to ask is not aimed at this particular piece but at 'Haiku' in general but...
I don't get it!
These thirteen words are a statement and I really don't see the poetry in it.
Am I missing something here?
Can someone enlighten me perhaps?
