I agree with you o lot in what you're saying Andy, but this is actually a family site. While yes you have to be 16 or older to join, there are in fact a lot of possible younger veiwers. I know of a few that read things to their children, that's why we have a children's category, and the rating system as it is set up.

Yes we are all adults in being able to post and comment, but there are a lot of nonmembers who can very well be underage. And note that even in the terms and conditions, they labelled this as a family site. (It's the main reason why I think the lewd members should stay on the sister site because that is the true adult site where the topics you want to descuss and such are brought up.)

Other then that, I completely agree.

THANK YOU for the reminder!!

. It's a lost art and the ultimate act of sincere consideration. I have a beautiful script as well as print, which comes from being made practice my handwriting repeatedly as I was growing up. It is a lost art.

I still do use all of the faster ways to communicate. Hey they are handy. I may not answer my phone, but I answer my emails and texts. However, when I want to make a lasting impression or to really place a pause in someone's day, I give them something they can touch, feel and see me in. Letter writing and notes do that.

My son was not even taught how to write in cursive in school. I was taught that in the third grade and from that point it was a requirement. When I realized that he could not read some script writing, I made him learn. That's right, I pulled out those huge three-line tablets and taught him myself. I also made him practice his printing like crazy. Now if he chooses to use it, that's his choice. He may not. Good handwriting is necessary to clear communication. So much can be lost in the brevity of texting and emailing.

Don't get me started on text speak.

I totally agree with teaching cursive writing in elementary school. However, my writing has degenerated into a combination scrawl of printing and cursive and is mostly unreadable. I OFTEN have trouble reading it myself.

I'm guilty of using email instead of writing, but m reasoning is explained above.
We could try to make it intelligent, but not sure just how intelligent it would be. After convo. with Miss AD, our brains are surely gonna be addled!

Seriously ... I would welcome an opportunity to visit and share a cold one with Roland.
He's walking away and I doubt he would find convo. with me to be intelligent.
Not really a "nice" thing, but made final arrangements to have our old mare put down at the end of this week. In the meantime ... she is loved and given apples daily!!
Already been to New Orleans, so New Caledonia would be my answer.

Story or Poem for YOUR next piece here?

alternate question for the non-writers:

Story or Poem for reading preference?
I'll take a turn here and you can go inside and warm up!
Medley of Phil Coulter songs ... heard on Celtic Thunder shows
Going tomorrow (10 Jan., '16) to a memorial service for a niece (early 40's) who had a "diabetic related event" Christmas Eve ... passed away a few days after Christmas. Good kid!!
Two of the *best* have already greeted you ... I'm just an old grouch but I'll say "Leave your wet, snow boots outside by the door and come on in by the fire!!"

With GINGER on one side and ARIES on the other ... I'd be a blubbering idiot trying to be "intelligent" in any conversation. I'm *so confused* lol!!

11 years ago, Simon's life ended so tragically.
He was my mentor, my friend and a man like no other. Having him living on my doorstep, a man whom I was in total awe of since I was a little girl, was a dream come true. He inspired me to paint the wildlife that I do, and to be brave and use oils.. I can still hear him telling me that oils are the easiest medium, I was able to paint watercolour, so oils would be childs play. And, like everything, he was right.
His incredible humour, his wit, his sense of fun and adventure, his intellect and compassion, his unmatchable talent... they will never be gone. Simon left his mark on everyone who met him. His legacy lives on and I am so honoured to have known him.

Kupumzika kwa amani , rafiki mpendwa . Wewe wamekwenda lakini kamwe kusahaulika Mzee.

I'v never read a more beautiful ... or heartfelt ... tribute than what you've written here. Friendships such as this are truly rare and precious and especially so from such an early age. A part of him remains alive through your artwork. Create and *PAINT* on!
