Hey, gillian. Nice reading your post. I'm glad you had a great trip despite the traffic and wildfires. Thankfully none of your husband's family members lost their houses, as you wrote.

I woke up earlier then usual this morning. When I was lying in bed thinking about random things I thought how coming here every morning would be a nice distraction from what's going on with Rose. She usually sleeps in and I get up early so I have time to visit you guys, even if I don't say much of anything, which is usually the case. It's always nice seeing what's new with you.

Cora, you sure are bringing the treats these days! I applaud your impulse to come here to ease your mind about your Rose. I've had difficult times where coming here (or a similar spot) first thing in the morning gave me some peace. I hope it brings you peace as well.

Gillian, that drive must be a bear, for you to decide it's your last one. Traffic and wildfires: sounds like a typical Colorado summer. I'm glad the visit went well.

About to finish the 3rd draft of the novel. It's the first good, readable draft, though it still needs a ton of work. Why do novels have to be so much work?

In other news, I was taking Benedryl for sleep for a few months. I just read about a link between Benedryl and dementia, though, and so stopped immediately. Yikes!

verbal, thank you for your very kind and sympathetic words. They meant a lot to me. I can't believe you're already nearly finished with the third draft of your novel. If your critique group liked your last draft, I would think they will very much like this draft. I agree; novels are a lot of work but they're fun to write, at least in my experience. However, I scrapped the novel I was working on years ago. Regarding Benadryl, yeah, it's not great to take. Maybe a sleep medicine? Just make sure to read the ingredients and possible side effects. Melatonin is safe and works for a lot of people.

Me too, Cora. Until fairly recently I was a night owl. Lately I've been learning how to make the early morning my friend. Up early again today! I may try another sleep aid, but most likely I'll just learn my new bodily rhythm and lean into it.

Write/edit and pick up the grandkid from school is the extent of my day. Mets lost.

Jeff, I saw the same thing about Benadryl and freaked out a bit. I have used it for seasonal allergies for years. The other antihistamines don't seem to work for me, but I'm going to give them a chance again. I've been constantly worrying about my memory lately.

I am trying to catch up on everything since I returned home and started working three days a week. At least that way, I can have the other two days to visit my father and manage anything he needs outside of the care his facility provides.

It's warmed up a bit, but won't last. I am hoping we can get out on our boat this weekend and see if the jellyfish have gone back to wherever they came from. Saturday is going to be rainy, but Sunday looks promising.

gillian, thank you for your very kind and encouraging words about Rose. It's great you like to sail; so peaceful and beautiful. I'm hoping you'll be able to sail this weekend, provided the weather. The end of sailing season is coming up, at least around here. We always dry docked our boat around October.

Don't have much to say; my brain is still waking up. I woke up earlier then usual again this morning.

For coffee, we'll put on some Tobermory Grotto. Teas are Scottish Breakfast and Lemon Kick (herbal). Pitchers are washed and refilled with iced tea and lemonade. Sodas are stocked.

Good morning and Happy Friday!! It's the weekend again! No big plans. Prep for my upcoming vacation (3 weeks), write, do housework.

The story I am plugging away on is once again in flux. I steered it away from a particular direction and now I want to move it back that way. Definitely thinking novelette or novella here given I'm at 7500ish words and still quite early in the story as envisioned.

We are both sick as dogs. Talia got it yesterday, I got it from her. snorts and coughs At least I finished the 3rd draft of the book before this cold showed up. So I can chill today. Start draft four on Monday.

Gill, my memory is awful as well, and it worries me from time to time. Thus the Benedryl news. I suspect at least some of my short-term memory loss has to do with my use of herby combustibles. But still. I hope the jellyfish stay at bay.
