Writing a new fantasy story. It's set in winter and gets a bit nasty (dismembered corpses appear) so will likely fall under "dark fantasy" genre-wise. It's nominally in the same world as the Chronicles of Tana and Shadows of Tan Maldrin (which also get pretty dark) but I'm avoiding connecting it to those beyond some setting elements.

Coffee and tea are freshened up. How's your weekend going?

Sonja did not have a cat. So why was this one making itself at home in her house?

The metal singer made Brenda an interesting offer, but was her interest in the music ... or him?

Ooo I love the sound of your story! I’m working on a darker piece, too.

I’m headed to a handbell concert at Dad’s assisted living place. Dad’s in it… the red bell. He has a helper with his bell. He’s really struggling with things right now and it’s hard to watch. We just want him as comfy as possible.

Oo, that's an interesting activity for a place like that. A couple churches around here have handbell "choirs" but never thought of it for an LTC (longterm care, as we call them in the healthcare world in Ontario) or retirement home activity.

The way I look at it is the bells are all lovely sounds. Not gonna matter much if they play them out of order. Not like the wrong note on a saxophone! 😳

That is an excellent activity for your Dad. My dad's place has a few residents who can play the piano, and they have regular times for that. They also have many outside musicians come in. They are my dad's favorite. They all know to play patriotic music at some point. Everyone at my father's place is retired military or government workers. If they don't play the Battle Hymn of the Republic, he gets belligerent.

I'm trying to get everything done before Christmas. I think I am on schedule.

Have a good week, everyone. Cheers.

It was a fun concert!

Merry Christmas, Gillian! smile

A handbell concert sounds fun! I've never seen one.

Everything is groovy here. Talia is back home. Presents are wrapped and under the Christmas table. Prepping some Mexican food for Thursday. I hope everyone is well.

We saw a WONDERFUL production of Mary Poppins this weekend. The guy playing the Dick Van role (Bert) was really talented. Talia has never seen the movie, so we'll be watching that this week.

Coffee please!

😲 Yeesh, I kind of thought that movie was required viewing for boomers and Gen-X, maybe millennials, too. I've probably seen it twice but not in a very long time.

Good day before the day before Christmas (aka Christmas Eve Eve). Just chillin' and looking at possible vacations for 2026. I am still working on my story but it's kind of stalling. And it's turning out longer than I expected. I had been shooting for something I could get out fairly quickly but it's evolving into another long piece.

I'll refresh the coffee and tea. Here's some seasonal goodies, too.
