As humans rapidly and single handedly destroy this amazing planet we call Earth, lets us appreciate Mother Nature, the disappearing cultures, the amazing places and the creatures, big and small, that we have the privilege of sharing it with.

I'll start with Ololokokwe, known also as Ol Donyo Sabuk, which rises 2000m up above the dry and dusty plains of northern Kenya.

A Himba woman, from northern Namibia. A humble and peaceful tribe, who are reluctant to be modernised.

This used to be one of my favourite trees. There was a very heavy storm, and it was knocked over, taking the bench with it. As it is a conker tree (horse chestnut), it is protected, so even although the tree has fallen, the stump remains. There are still roots, and there are now new shoots, too. I went to school not far from that tree, and always liked to study underneath it.

Ghosts, flamingos, guitars and vodka. Eclectic subjects, eccentric stories:

One of my favourite places to be. This is Amboseli, one of the last places where you will find the large herds of Elephants and some of Africa's most iconic big Tuskers. The herds move between the forests of Mount Kilimanjaro, in the background, to the dry dusty plains and the swamps of the Amboseli eco-system. In the early mornings, a sight to behold, is the elies emerging from the forest, kicking up the dust as they head for the swamps, to spend the day feeding, drinking and wallowing.

Thank you, AriesDragon, for starting this picturesque thread and reminding us of the beauty to be found on this spec of dust in the cosmos. Through my association with you ... and also seeing some of your artwork ... I'm developing a dper appreciation for nature's beauty. I sincerely thank you for sharing things like this and seeing beauty through your eyes.
