Today, I am grateful for a certain person, he knows who he is, who encouraged me when I wrote my very first serious story a few short years ago. It was on another, unrelated site and I was exceptionally uncertain about writing it and it being good enough to share..
That story of just over five thousand words was the first time I had written anything like a real story and when I said I wanted to expand it he encouraged me to do so.
That story was called 'The Nurses and the Surgeon' and has now become 'The Nurses', 'Kindred Spirits, Distant Hearts', and 'The Long Road Home' and together they now exceed 270,000 words!
For that initial encouragement, I thank you, Kind Sir.

Last night My son called shortly before midnight. A water pipe had burst in his boiler. I dressed and went to his house (about two miles away) and quickly ascertained that it was a simple repair. I shut off the water and today went and bought him a new pipe and fitted it.
It is the simple things like this that make being a parent to two grown children such a joy.
