The closer you are to death, the more alive you feel. It's a wonderful way to live. It's the only way to drive.
Last night My son called shortly before midnight. A water pipe had burst in his boiler. I dressed and went to his house (about two miles away) and quickly ascertained that it was a simple repair. I shut off the water and today went and bought him a new pipe and fitted it.
It is the simple things like this that make being a parent to two grown children such a joy.

An excellent writer and purveyor of all things military and whom I also consider a good friend.7FQzkLag09oTEfoA

Today I was watching the latest (in the UK at least) episode of Chicago Fire. It led me to remembering an old TV show called 'Til Death us do part' which featured a bigot called Alf Garnett. So, you may ask, how is that connected to Chicago Fire?

Wasn't Alf the inspiration for Archie Bunker in All in the Family? I haven't seen 'Til Death..., just remember reading that somewhere.
